The building itself is beautiful, and my room looked great as well. Beauty, however, only goes so far when function is lacking.
When we first arrived, our room’s HVAC hadn’t been running. We called the desk, and they turned it on, assuring us it would be fine by the time we got back from dinner. Unfortunately, it never really cooled down—only dropping to about 72–73 degrees. Not unbearable, but definitely uncomfortable when trying to sleep under a heavy duvet. They did offer to change our room, but by that point (around 8 p.m.) I was exhausted, and the only available rooms were multiple floors away. It seems to me the hotel should know whether a room’s HVAC is working before checking in a guest.
The second issue was the hot tub being out of commission. This was especially frustrating because two days earlier I had specifically called to confirm it was working and was told that it was. As we were on a motorcycle trek, soaking after 400+ miles of riding was something we were really counting on. When I asked the desk, they said it was down for “routine maintenance” and had been expected. That made it worse—if it was scheduled, I should have been told the truth when I called. Instead, I was misled. The front desk even commented that maintenance and the front desk don’t communicate, which doesn’t inspire confidence.
So yes, the building looks nice, and the room was comfortable enough. But overall, the experience was disappointing. Attention to detail was missing, communication
