« Our stay at Burnhopeside Hall was one of our most memorable ever. Christine, our hostess, was delightful and helpful. The room was spacious and the surroundings could not have been more grand. This is a stately old home, full of beautiful furniture and dishes, near sheep pastures and the river. While there, we walked the yard and fields behind the house, went down to the river, accompanied by Barney and Spencer (the Burnhopeside dogs!). Breakfast was delicious and elegantly presented. This was a...
« Fantastic two night stay in a great establishment. Room was clean and very comfortable. Breakfast to die for and proper pub on site to enjoy a great pint, local friendliness and some brilliant evening entertainment. Iâll definitely be back. đâ€ïž »
« The rosemary suite was ideal for 2 couples. Really spacious with super king beds and both en suite. Shower had great water pressure too!
All the staff were absolutely lovely, and couldnt be more helpful when i was struggling with bags and a baby!

« This was our second stay at 40 winks and it was even better! Warn welcome, beautiful decor, delicious breakfast. Host went out of his way to make our visit run smoothly as we were here for a graduation ceremony. We will be back. Didnât have time to use the new bar so we must return!! »
« Overall everything was good, our only issue was after being there for a few days we noticed the toaster was full of crumbs, obviously not been emptied for quite some time, and the oven tray had not been cleaned after it had been used. We hadnât met the owner, so decided it was easier just to clean them both before using them.
On the hole, everything else was excellent.
There was no recycling facilities, which was quite a surprise, and also a slight disappointment. Everything else was above...
« The hotel is easy to find, and ideally located for visiting Beamish Museum.
It is very attractive, and the bar and restaurant areas have great views westwards over the valley.
Each ground floor room has its own car parking slot - wonderful!
The staff are friendly and helpful, and a small bonus for me, the malt whisky is cheaper than the pub down the road ....
I would definitely stay here again if visiting the area, there was nothing I did not like. »
« Not great for EV drivers as when you take the car to charge, you cannot return to the hotel to park. And the cleanliness in the bathroom prevented me from bathing my 3 year old. »
« Lovely clean room and very comfy bed. Plenty tea and coffee in the room and towels. We were in room 2 which has its own decking terrace.
The main car park is at the back of the hotel and there are a couple of spaces at the front too but both sides have very close access.
We had the full English breakfast both mornings which is not included in the booking price but worth every penny. It really set us up for the day.
We're just home after a two night stay and have already booked again for our...
« Great hotel, nice and cosy rooms (love the scientific decorations), very clean. Good restaurant (did not try the breakfast buffet), friendly staff. Will come back here if I need to visit Durham again. »
