Das Hotel liegt in einem sehr schönen historischem Örtchen. Das Personal war sehr nett.

Total heruntergekommenes sehr sanierungsbedürftiges Hotel in einer heruntergekommenen Gegend. Fenster schmutzstarrend, Matratzen furchtbar, Abendessen muss man vorher buchen (wurde uns vorher nicht mitgeteilt), sonst bekommt man keines mehr. Frühstück hat grauenvoll geschmeckt. Dieses Hotel können wir nicht empfehlen. Das Foto der Hotelhalle mit dem schottischen Tartanboden beeindruckt, aber sobald man in dem Hotel eingecheckt hat, ist man schwer entäuscht. Das Hotel hat ganz klar seine besten Zeiten hinter sich. Von dem einstmaligen viktorianischen Charme des Ortes ist nichts mehr zu merken.

Altehrwürdiges, wunderbares Hotel
Wir haben uns in diesem altehrwürdigen Hotel sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Zimmer war top renoviert und alle Möbel, das Bad etc. neuwertig, gutes Internet obendrauf. Außen muss sicher noch gestrichen werden, aber drinnen ist alles ok. Sehr nettes Personal und abends kann man gemütlich einen Drink zu sich nehmen. Romantisch gelegen, direkt beim Ortskern.

Leider Enttäuschend, die Bilder täuschen. Unser Zimmer war eine Sauna bei fast Minusgraden draußen. Auf nachfrage nach einen Ventilator kam nichts mehr. Das Hotel hat einen alten Muff Geruch. Das Badezimmer ist aber hübsch gemacht. Leider nicht zu empfehlen guckt lieber weiter als Notlösung ist es okay.

Amazing hotel from an epoch passed. Built in the time when Strathpeffer was an important resort inn Victorian times, and had a through train from London. Historic flavour = old lift Nice location

Hotel war vor 30 Jahren bestimmt mal gut!
- nur für ältere Menschen geeignet. In dem Zimmer hat es extrem nach Kräuter-Fußcreme (oder ähnlichem) gerochen. - Gebäude macht von außer etwas her. - Frühstück war gut - Strathpeffer ist für junge Menschen vollkommen ungeeignet. Keine Bars/Pubs, nur Hotellobbys mit Alleinunterhaltern.

Schlimm...
Es ist uns ein absolutes Rätsel, wie dieses Hotel positive Bewertungen bekommen konnte. Es ist in einem allgemein ungepflegten Zustand, es hat überall nach Dufterfrischer gestunken um den alten Gestank weg zu bekommen, die Toilette hat nicht ordentlich gespült, die Fenster sind so oft gestrichen worden, wodurch sie sich nicht mehr öffnen ließen, etc etc ... insgesamt die schlimmste Nacht die ich je in einem Hotel verbringen musste.

Property is very well located in town centre, parking was very easy around the property, 2 min walking distance from Morrisson's daily, a chinese takeaway and 2 cafe/bistro. Definitely recommend it if you're on your way of NC500.

We travelled as a couple and stayed in a superior room overlooking Strathpeffer which is a lovely village with nice walks. It was a lovely, large room with a sofa and a big modern bathroom. Breakfast was good with plenty of options and had gf bread for anyone intolerant/ coeliac. The toaster wouldn’t be suitable for coeliac due to cross contamination with normal bread crumbs. A bacon sandwich with the gf bread was ample though and with other continental choices too. We couldn’t book an evening meal unless we were already booked as half board. But we did have an amazing fish supper at the Siddy Fish & Chip Shop in Contin just down the road, which also has a separate fryer for gf. We had a drink in the bar in the evening which was full due to coach parties and a biker convention which made for an interesting night. The resident entertainer was geared up for the coach parties and had people up dancing and really enjoying themselves, which was great to see. The hotel is decorated in lovely authentic Scottish style but seems to cater mainly for coach parties and large groups. Visit rogie falls if you get the chance. Also the sweet shop in the pavilion was like stepping back in time with a lovely selection. Overall a good stay on our NC500 trip.

The carpet adds a Scottish atmosphere right from the start. The entertainment on both nights was an unexpected surprise. The lift is unique, and ohhh so needed!

Perfect dog friendly hotel
This was our 2nd stay at The Highland Hotel, we love it, this stay we even travelled almost 4 hours to stop for 1 night. The staff and very helpful & friendly. Our room was simple, clean & had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable. The food was delicious.

We had to stay over because we couldn’t get home due to a storm. We booked this hotel as it was dog friendly and had a lift. Hotel was lovely and well maintained in the bar and reception area. It’s such a beautiful building. Our Room appeared to have been updated some time ago and was clean. Good shower and soft white towels available. With the window open as much as we were able and the heating off we were very warm and uncomfortable through the night. We were put on a floor that had a large container collecting water from a leak in the roof which I found strange due to the size of the hotel and many more rooms would have been available. I think most of the first floor is to house staff. We had issues with the lift and a member of staff told my Husband when he reported it “you’ll have to take the stairs then”. My Husband is able to take the steps despite having disabilities however my elderly Mother was not. Staff need to be aware of hidden disabilities as not everyone uses a walking aid making it so obvious. The lift was fixed, we were told it’s an old lift. We didn’t eat in the hotel. The Chinese next to the hotel is delicious. I think the hotel would be a lovely experience when there are coach tours there, it was very quiet when we stayed. The area is nice too.

Fabulous value for Dinner, Bed & Breakfast! This once grand hotel still provides clean, warm, comfortable rooms, and grand, if faded, public spaces. While the dinner menu was a bit uninspiring, the food was fine (and great for the price). Full Scottish breakfast too. Happily stay again for a night or two.

The hotel was super old. The room smelled super bad, our clothes still smell after just being in our suitcase in the room. The window couldnt open so we couldnt air it out. The windows and bathroom had mold. The carpet was stained and the cups in the bathroom were yellow. The bed was probably the smallest and most uncomfortable double bed ive ever slept in. It felt dirty and uncomfortable to be there.

Hotel seemed ok for the price. Unfortunately our room had a mouse/rat issue and noise of mice in the roof kept us awake. Had to change rooms and sleep was very broken.

The carpet in our room was worn through in spots, dirty water glass in the bathroom, Balcony railing was rotten so the door to it was locked. The room had a musty smell. Hair in the bathroom, and the food at the restaurant could have been purchased at a Texco. Alround never again.

Disappointed Highlander
All was reasonably good for the price, except for breakfast, which was a disappointing affair. The porridge on offer was extremely thin, almost liquid, and easily pourable. It was a few flakes of oat, barely suspended in some hot water and there was no honey or suitable substitute to make it edible. The coffee was weak and the fruit salad lacked imagination and variety in the fruits. The hot element lacked both fried and scrambled eggs. A poor offering all round.

Thank you for your review. I am disappointed to read there was no scrambled eggs on offer, as this is standard on our buffet. As your review is anonymous it is hard to tell when this occurred. We will discuss your comments with the food and beverage team to make sure this doesn't happen for future guests.
