Pretty blown away by how many things went wrong in such a short period of time. I will try to make this as short as possible.
1. We arrived to the property after dark to find that the address on maps is incorrect. Maps shows this property as being a completely different address on Ridge Road. It took us forever in the pitch black to find this house.
2. The front porch light was literally a strobe light and I almost got sick just trying to unlock the door.
3. An alarm clock in one of the bedrooms started randomly blaring at 5:30am.
4. Barely any of the lightbulbs in the house worked.
5. One of the lamp cords looked like it was severed and then taped back together- the first of two dangerous fire hazards we would discover
6. The hot tub roller was broken so we couldn't even utilize the entire hot tub- only half of it
7. Either this place does not have A/C or it was broken, not clearly stated on the listing. It was almost 80 degrees inside the house all weekend.
8. To cool down the house we had to open windows and turn fans on. At 3:00am the fan in our bedroom started knocking very loudly and was putting off a horrible, horrible burning smell. We are very lucky the noise woke us up before the fan potentially caught fire.
9. The property was not as clean as expected. It is clear the light switch panels are never wiped down, one of the bathrooms had a VERY visible layer of grime and dirt all over it. I could scratch it away with a finger nail so it was obviously not just stained. Very disgusting.
10. We came back from an outing to find a man in a Railey vehicle leaving our property. When confronted, he said he had to "plug something in inside" and then gave contradicting excuses. First, he said he tried to call and let us know beforehand, but then he said he wasn't even aware that someone was staying there. If you work for Railey, how could you not know it was occupied? Either way, it is extremely unprofessional to let yourself into a guests rental without ANY notification or forewarning. We never received any word from property management the entire duration of our stay- not even to apologize for the random man in our house with all of our personal belongings lying about.
The town is beautiful, but everything is closed Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays, which is very bizarre. Wasn't the worst vacation ever, but we will definitely never book with Railey again.
