This property and host was my favorite VRBO rental ever. The host was flexible, kind, and responsive. The property was AMAZING, and the lodge had every detail perfect for comfortable enjoyment of nature. Highlights included watching birds and deer at the feeders, walking the trails, watching sunrises and snow fall from the comfy furniture on the covered porch, reading by the fire, kayaking, moving from snow to sauna, playing games in the hut, and quality and affordable dinner at the supper club. The kitchen was well stocked with things most rentals overlook. Comfy beds. Sad we could only stay 2 nights. We plan to return in summer! Thank you for an amazing stay!!!!!!
Cozy, up-to-date, well-kept property with great privacy. Perfect for a family or small group. Great communication with the host. Would definitely stay there again!
We love the Wautoma area and this property was one of the best we have stayed at! The house is amazing, the land is beautiful, and the property manager was outstanding! We have already booked another stay here because we loved it so much. A defiant booking if you are in the area.
This Wautoma cabin provided a fabulous venue for our get together with our son and daughter-in-law for a delayed 40th Birthday celebration for our son. We enjoyed fall walks on the property, biking country roads, a fun fire pit, and watching our son and daughter-in-law introduce their dog to the canoe. The owner was very responsive to all of our questions and I look forward to an opportunity for a repeat visit.
We absolutely loved our mini vacation! Got out of the craziness and right into tranquility!
Beautiful log home with hiking trails and a great little beach. We even went canoeing which is something we havenât done since high school church youth group trips. Yep, Iâm still kinda soređ.
The weather was perfect and so was our stay at BlackBerry Lodge. Canât wait to bring the family back in the summer!
You guys rock!
This was our second time staying at BlackBerry Lodge, and it was just as amazing as the first stay. We enjoy fishing off the dock- very easy to catch bluegill. The cabin is meticulously clean, the host is always available and check-in is easy. We used the grill both times, and it is wonderful. I have nothing but positive things to say about this place.
This is a lovely tucked away in the trees type of home. Lotâs of wild life near the property and cute winding paths and trails. The road leading to the house is like having your own personal tunnel of trees which was nice every time we left and returned to the cabin. I will say this is a secluded house in terms of not seeing other homes nearby but as far as sound it's not all that secluded. There is a nearby house across the creek which you can't see but you can definitely hear if they are "noisy neighbors" which in our case our last couple of days they were. Our peaceful, serenity of mother nature, animal, and tree sounds got drowned out from loud blasting music, banging sounds like they were building something or playing very loud yard games. Thankfully it was just the last couple of days of our trip and not our whole trip. Sound really travels. Communication with Andrew was great he answered all questions, responded promptly and was very courteous. We enjoyed the water toys on the lake too, which was very nice. A few suggestions for the house it can use more storage. A table with some drawers along the wall the staircase is on and a small side table next to the sliding door could be helpful as well. Maybe some more shelves under the two existing oneâs and books removed from their current location in kitchen to some shelves. The two beds should switch locations as upstairs is bigger more of a master suite. We enjoyed our trip very much and escaped our hectic city lives.
The property was good, a beautiful original log cabin including contents. Any problems or questions were handled promptly by the owner. Total seclusion with lighted trails through 7 acres and lake access.
Place is as advertised. Andrew provides a comprehensive welcome document to ensure you are aware of guest expectation but also neat insights.
I would recommend bring your own toiletries and extra paper towels. This place is designed to accommodate the whole family and it was so dog friendly. My dog had a blast!
Our family of five (three kids and our dog) enjoyed a long weekend at Blackberry Lodge, and it was great. Itâs rare to find a place that offers everything this lodge does â privacy, seclusion in the woods, a lake for fishing and swimming, pet-friendly accommodations, and a beautifully furnished cabin. We spent our days playing cornhole, kayaking, swimming, paddleboarding, and canoeing. The Weber grill and cozy porch area were big highlights for us. We briefly used the sauna, but think this would be a great highlight in the fall and winter. This property truly has everything you need to relax and disconnect!
The lodge was very clean and homey.
A quiet and relaxing location.
Loved going in the lake and taking the kayaks out!
Also enjoyed the grill.
Highly recommend!
We had so much fun at this beautiful cabin in the woods. The cabin had everything we needed. Everyone loved all the water toys on the lake, campfire, hiking, games, and hanging on the porch. Perfect family getaway. So relaxing!
My family (children ages 19, 14 &11) & our two dogs, had a wonderful, relaxing vacation at Blackberry Lodge. Booking, check-in & check-out were simple. The host, Andrew, was very responsive & friendly. The location of the lodge is beautiful, surrounded by trees & nature. We saw deer, various birds, & squirrels right from the deck. The lodge itself was beautiful, cozy & clean & had everything we needed plus more. The lake is a short walk through the trees, on natural trails. The water of the lake is clear & you can walk out for quite a distance before it gets deep. The whole family was able to explore the lake with the available kayaks, canoe, paddle board & paddleboat. We fished (catch & release), spotted turtles, swam. We explored the stream. The kids enjoyed the hut with foosball & darts. The dogs were able to swim, run on the trails, lounge on the beach & the dock. It was rainy off & on during our stay but we still very much enjoyed just relaxing. We didnât turn the TV on our entire stay (4 nights)! We visited a couple different towns close by (Wautoma & Red Granite) for coffee, dinner one night & ice cream. Everyone had a great time. We did not want to leave & we will be back! *Note for those clean freaksâŠYou will get sand on/in things. As long as we dried the dogs off & wiped our feet good before going into the lodge, we didnât have much sand inside. Also, sand on the beach & in the lake is more of a mixture of sand & mudâŠitâs a lake, not the ocean.
Cabin was very clean and modern, while keeping the log cabin feel. Owners have thought of everything, with little touches all over the place (seating by creek on trails, buckets to carry wood, life jackets for the boats, etc.). Offering the wood for purchase (honor system) was also a great perk. We caught many fish at the lake, saw all kinds of interesting animals (giant turtle, woodpeckers, owl). Truly a wonderful place!
Beautiful log cabin set on 7 acres of wooded property. Pet friendly, several trails with soft landscape lighting for night walks, wood sauna steps from cabin, beautiful wrap around deck, new large grill, plenty of wood in wood shed for fire pit along with a wagon to load and carry wood, several watercraft available with easy access, peaceful and quiet, only a 6 minute drive to Mt. Mount Morris Mill coffee shop for coffee. The stream can be heard from the cabin deck, cornhole just outside of the cabin, family and card games available, plenty of outdoor lighting available, several planters throughout property filled with flowers. Fun little extra cabin next to fire pit with foosball, a mini-bar, and its own screened in porch with chairs. Comfortable seating by corn hole, fire pit, and on deck, as well as benches along side the trails and stream. Plenty of towels and extra blankets if needed. Bonus to have a clear view from the lake of the Northern Lights! Andrew was the perfect host, providing every detail prior to check in, confirming we checked in ok, and prompt follow up to all communication. Highly recommend!
My husband and I, plus my parent's, two kiddos, and two pups all spent a long weekend at Andrew's cabin. Everything about this place was exactly what we were looking for. As mentioned, it sits on seven acres with plenty of areas to explore. We spent a lot of mornings out on the paddle boats with the kids and pups. The water was obviously a little too cold for us humans, but that didn't stop the pups from taking a dip. The cabin itself is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need including free popcorn! The host also left us blackberry jam, blackberry chocolates, and blackberry flavored water. DELICIOUS! We loved enjoying the fire pit and the game room. Although the cabin feels very remote, the town of Wautoma and nearby smaller towns have plenty to do. Lots of wineries, breweries and eating establishments. We'd love to return to this place when the weather is nice and we can do more swimming. Crystal clear water and shallow enough for our kids to enjoy. Obviously, I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking for a weekend getaway- especially if you're looking to get away from the hustle and bustle.
My family really enjoyed the peace and tranquility. They also enjoyed watching the wild life.
The lake if very low and did not see any fish. If staying the in area and plan to fish, you may want to fish on one of the larger lakes in the area. There is an abundance of lakes in the area.
Had a lovely time in the knotty pine cabin with lovely windows overlooking airy pines. Great porch and porch furniture for napping in the sun. Enjoyed the game cabin too. What a bonus!!!
