Very nice but.....

The room and bathroom facilities were very nice. The breakfast choice and quality was excellent. The parking is quite tight and tricky to manoeuvre around. The biggest disappointment was not being able to use the wifi due to a local issue at the hotel . I chose this hotel based on location, free breakfast, free parking and free wifi so only 2 out of 4 options were satisfactory.

Wo night stay with friends

Room 14, no window in room making it very dark with only light from glazed front door, dirty carpet, dirty tv remote control and behind wall mounted tv was thick with dust. Only one towel in room until late evening due to issue with laundry company. Shower pressure very poor. Excellent quality breakfast and dining room very clean. We had complimentary wine left in our room and a note from the owner which was a positive gesture to acknowledge our disappointment. Hotel is in a great location only ninutes from the lakeside, shops and restaurants.

Oakbank *****

Lovely stay at the Oakbank. Staff were very accommodating and the breakfast was a great start to the day - plenty to keep you going until lunch time. Room 6 has fantastic views with 2 windows looking over the lake. Oakbank is in a perfect location to explore Bowness and only a very short drive to Windermere. Thank you, we’d love to visit again!

A nice find

This B&B was great value for money. The room was really clean and well presented but most of all the view from room 5 was cracking and apparently there are rooms with better views. Breakfast was very good with good choices and there is parking as well. A nice find.

Great stay and even greater breakfast!

Lovely hosts, couldn’t do enough for us. Room finished to a really good standard, bed comfy. Only slight point for improvement is telly is a bit small and a bit far away from the bed but not the end of the world. Best b&b breakfast I’ve ever had/seen. Not your standard cereal and toast. You have the choice of around 10 different dishes from waffles and bacon, eggs benedict, full English, various sandwiches etc. Have stayed at a couple of places round bowness and would mark this as the best and would return and recommend to everyone.

As a Police officer and my wife a nurse working on the front line, we got a child free night and decided to go to the lakes for a night. Was delighted when we found Oakbank House. The photos on the website looked amazing and the majority of the reviews were great. Unfortunately we fall into the minority and our visit wasn’t what we had expected. The room we were shown to was on the ground floor between the kitchen and the entrance, and it looked nothing like the rooms on the website. When my wife brought this up with the owner and explained her displeasure and that she was nurse and just wanted one of the refurbished rooms as she had been working hard over the past few months the owners response was “ Well so have I and not all nurses have worked on the front line”. He then tried to offer us an upgraded room for £30 which he said was discounted. I wasn’t happy paying what we had for an inferior room compared to other guest who had paid the same for a refurbished room so I declined . I’d also left a message prior to arrival to state I was a vegetarian so when it came to breakfast and I was told I could have had a vegetarian option if I had told them before hand it really was the icing on the cake. That said, the other staff we spoke with were polite and the superior room looked very nice. The breakfast choice was good and the hotel was clean. Just would have been nice of the owner to have acknowledged the room we were in wasn’t one of the refurbished rooms shown online.

Bowness, Oakbank House

We had an amazing time at Oakbank House. The location was perfect. The staff were very welcoming on our arrival and nothing was any trouble to them. They always had a smile on there face. Our room was room number 4 it was a superior room with a lake view. This was beautiful and so clean. What i am trying to say is i cannot fault this bed and breakfast. It was 10out of 10.

Short break in Bowness

Ideally located just minutes from the shops, restaurants and bars in Bowness. We managed to park in front of the house meaning that we could see our car from our room which we liked. Our room (9) on the top floor had a comfy bed and pillows and towels that looked brand new. The dual aspect windows gave us lovely views of the lake and neighbouring gardens. There was enough storage for our clothes etc. Breakfast each day was very good with lots of choice and good quality ingredients. The lady in the breakfast room was very friendly! We only have one negative in that we found the paintwork in the bedroom was quite marked as was some of the soft furnishings. Having chosen the property from its photos we did feel a little disappointed. However this would not prevent us from returning as we understand that the room is due for an update soon. We loved Bowness and would like to return again and would certainly stay at Oakbank House again!

Great homely place

Oakbank was in great location. Minutes walk to shops etc. Staff were lovely. Breakfast was great with good selection. Bed really comfy. We all loved it and would highly recommend
