My husband and I stayed at Charles House in Windsor in September. The positives were that it was close to the train station and Windsor Castle. The negatives: on arrival, after a long day of walking on the Thames Path we were upset to discover that the room hadn't been cleaned. The bed was unmade, dirty towels littered the floor, the garbage was full, there were dirty dishes on the table, and lots of hairs in the shower. No one answered my telephone call but they did text back and I explained the problem. It took about ninety minutes to learn that no one was available to clean and then we were given the wrong code for the cleaner's room. Finally we got access to the cleaner's room and we cleaned the room ourselves, carrying all the clean items we needed upstairs and all the dirty items back downstairs. We were offered a refund on our first night's stay but after texting back and forth for almost a month, we have not received this refund. We had hiked a long stretch of the Thames Path and ended our journey in Windsor. The experience at Charles House ruined the end of our trip. Expedia For TD did reimburse me for a portion of our first night's stay which was very decent of them but Charles House behaved quite dishonourably. I will not stay at a place with no one on site in the future.
