It’s a seasonal activity but we hope that this wasn’t too intrusive for you. Hi William, Thank you for your review, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Orchard Lodge. It is an interesting question that you raise regarding having a car to stay in our lodge. Clearly it is convenient, but as we discussed there is an excellent park and ride scheme just 2.5 miles away with regular buses into the centre of the ancient city. We have a limited bus service, that our neighbours in the retirement village use too. The advantage is you get to stay in the peaceful surroundings of Orchard Lodge, so it’s really the best of both worlds and the delights of Yorkshire beyond. We hope the rest of your stay in the UK goes well and that you and your partners mobility issues improve. It was fun to share my enthusiasm for York with you all and I hope you got to see some of the sights. Have a good journey back home and hopefully we will see you or your friends again in the future. Thank you Amy for your kind words. It’s a lovely location here in the rural fringe of the ancient city surrounded by wonderful countryside yet only 2 miles from the Askham Bar park and ride. York works hard to be a year round attraction and always has something to do whatever the weather, from The National Railway Museum, to York Minster, the Jorvik Centre and the ancient centre with the food festivals and Christmas Market.
