Danach haben wir den empfohlenen Bushwalk zu den Glühwürmchen (3 km entfernt)gemacht. Ohne Aufpreis war ein Frühstück dabei - sehr nette Geste. „Sounds like a wonderful place, staff was helpful. BUT the stay was a disaster. Room had a funny smell, fan to vent was running but did not help, but we accepted it. In the middle of the night there was a extremely loud sound in the ceiling, some animal was digging in there, hitting the ceiling help for awhile but it came back, this went on for a very long time. Finally managed to get to bed around 4 o’clock, with ear plugs in a separate room. Complained next morning and was told there is no ...

„Gutes Motel für einen Stopover und den Besuch der Glowworm Caves. Es gab eine kleine Küche, eine kleine Sitzecke und gemütliche Betten, sogar mit Heizdecke. Alles schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber dennoch sehr gemütlich. Der Empfang durch den Besitzer war sehr freundlich und hilfreich. Er hat uns noch ein paar wertvolle Tipps gegeben. Ich kann einen Aufenthalt in diesem Motel sehr empfehlen.“

„The room was very musty and art decor on the walls had a layer of dust on them. Bed mattress was old and lumpy. We booked two nights but only stayed one. Would not recommend this and hopefully they'll refurbish the facility. “

„It was definitely a unique stay. Just keep in mind that the deeper in the ship you go, the colder it gets. However, the duvet and blankets they provide are plenty warm, and there are extra heaters provided, plus some electric blankets I think. People complained about the diesel smell, while present, it faded away for me after a while, it wasn't overpowering or anything. “

„Das Motel lebt nur von den Tagestouristen die zu den Glow Worm Caves wollen. Einrichtung schon in die Jahre gekommen. Frühstück wird nur optional angeboten und ist leider nicht empfehlenswert. Wird am Vortag nur in den Kühlschrank gestellt. Zimmer riechen alt und modrig. Im Schrank war noch Kleidung vom letzten Gast. Parkplatz war reichlich vorhanden. Warmwasser funktioniert nicht.“

„It was slightly tight for 3 adults with lots of luggage. Atmosphere was nice and close to both Waitomo cave and the restaurants. “

„The staff was nice but the room was filthy. Beds were terrible. You roll in to the middle. We had bugs crawling on the sheets in the bedrooms. Had to dust cobwebs above the bed. Killed multiple bugs inside after all windows and doors were closed. Reached out to management. They did offer to switch to a different room but it was late and would have been more difficult to move. We covered up with our clothes and did not use any bedding. „Deadly gas heater requires many windows open at the same time; defeats the purpose. So called breakfast was pathetic. Eggs and bread. Nothing else. Better off staying with the trailer park boys. Nice sounds and view of the highway.“

„Mel’s Retreat was a very comfortable Suite to stay. Beautiful area, well furnished suite, and well worth the stay. Mel had more than one could ask for for a continental breakfast.Well worth the stay. Only thing I would comment on is it is a little tight for space.“

„Great host and property overlooking the town. There are even animals like sheep, Shetland pony, and horses that we fed and petted. Very comfortable accommodations and thoughtful snacks and other items were provided to make the stay as comfortable as possible. Great place to stay in Te Kuiti. Highly recommend.“
