« The hotel had been abandoned. We managed to check-in but there have been no staff onsite since. A local has told us that the Indian company that owns the hotel has not paid the local staff wages and they have been forced to leave. The hotel is filthy, there is literally no staff anywhere to be seen. »

« One or maybe the best hotel with pool at the beach in Arumgambay. The rooms are rather small and basic but OK compared to other places. A fridge would be a nice addition though. The bathroom is also small and basic, and we had a lot of ants the first days (but that is kinda everywhere). The WIFI was "so-so" but that was kinda everywhere in Sri Lanka (better off buying a SIM-card). The service and staff was excellent and everyone was helpfull and service-minded. « Nous avons passé un très bon séjour dans ce joli petit hôtel, juste en bord de mer et proche de tout, c’est vraiment parfait ! De plus, le personnel est absolument adorable, et rende très volontiers service, le petit déjeuner aussi très bon ! »

« Booked this hotel through Expedia prior to my trip, when I landed in Colombo I received a text message from a French (+33) number saying that my booking at The Coconut would be cancelled, and that the prices I had booked were no longer valid! My only choices were to cancel the booking or pay the "new prices" which were 3x higher! I ended up saying I didn't want the booking and found other accommodations. I actually went to the hotel during my trip where the front desk person was frustrated...

« We stayed here when it was low season. Not many restaurants open and very few shops. Since it was Monsoon it was mosqitios everywhere. The Hotel was Nice and Will be great when finished. Staff was really Nice and helpful. »

« Wonderful staff and very accommodating. Rooms are clean and the pool was well maintained. Great for families with kids since it is a brief walk from the Main Street in Arugambay. »

« Rustic hotel accommodation right on beach, 10 minute drive out of Arugam Bay. Tuk Tuk accessible. Basic accommodation with wifi only in verandah of our unit (11), and in dining area. Lovely atmosphere and staff are very accommodating and friendly. Loved their Sri Lankan meals. It’s not 5 star hotel but the staff make up for it. »

« The service was excellent and very friendly staff. Very willing to help and accomodate any request we had. Organised van to Aragum Bay. Nothing was a problem. Good value for money. We were happy with the stay. 👍 »
