Superb

Wonderful place! Wow what an absolute gem. Accommodation in the Police house cottage was absolutely first class, pristine and so comfortable. Evening dinner in the Hotel restaurant was first class, effortless , super friendly, and the food was simply out of this world. This is somewhere we will recommend to friends and family and we will most certainly be back in a heart beat. A huge thumbs up.

Hayloft Cottage

We stayed in the Hayloft Cottage, comfortable and fine for 2 people but not adequately equipped for self catering,needs a bit more thought especially now the hotel and cottages are separate businesses. Heating not good enough, underfloor, but how does that work with fully carpeted cottage, bathroom was the hottest place. Woodburner didn't really chuck out much heat. Our pre booked dinner at the hotel was not honoured and cost twice as much as we had been advised. However we did enjoy our stay, perfectly placed for exploring the area.

Wonderful stay

Our stay at Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel was relaxing, we booked one of the self-catering cottages and stayed in the Hayloft cottage, It was perfect for the 2 of us. The cottage was lovely and clean and covid safe, so close to a lovely beach. Highly recommend eating here, the food had was prefect and so glad that I added the evening meals onto our stay. There are not many places we go back to, but we plan on returning again this time with our dog Molly as the hotel was dog friendly and she would have loved it too.

Central position in village, short walk to the coast. Thought the dog friendly lounge was excellent, very comfortable but unfortunately service wasn’t as prompt in there. Didn’t like the fact that people didn’t use the dog lounge facility and chose to leave their dogs in the bedroom which resulted in them barking and disturbing others.

The property was clean and friendly and a great atmosphere. Unfortunately we were out of season and with the reduction in dining customers there was an impact on the quality of the food, which fell below the standard I had experienced four weeks previously. I love the fact that it is dog friendly and I will be going back.

Great Service, Great Food, Great Location

Decided to stay here as a final stop-over on our way back from our holiday in Scotland. We booked here specifically because of the location as we wanted to visit Embleton Bay and Dunstanburgh Castle. I'd read a few negative reviews of the place and tbh I now wonder if they were talking of somewhere different as everything was first class. We arrived for a late lunch and also had dinner in the restaurant that evening. The food and service were excellent and the room was well equipped and comfortable. It was a similar story at breakfast where the food was freshly prepared and nicely presented. The beach is a pleasant 20 minute walk away and takes in Dunstanburgh Castle which is in a spectacular location and well worth visiting. Highly recommended.

A great stay but the advert was a bit misleading

Excellent all round stay which I could not fault. The only slight concern I had was with the pre-booking selling techniques. The hotel was advertised on the Hotel.com site as a beachside or next to the beach hotel which is misleading. It is actually a 25 minute brisk walk down to the beach adjacent to the road with a long pull uphill walking back. Secondly having pre-booked the only available room-only rate, I was subsequently sent an email offering me a special discounted dinner and breakfast rate if I booked it in advance which I did. However, when we checked in at the hotel, we found that this special rate was the same as the standard advertised rate on the board. Finally, the picture of the beer garden is misleading in that the main road through the village runs between the garden and the hotel - something you can’t quite see from the photo. Having said all this, the stay itself was excellent, the food was great and the staff were very welcoming.

Quaint hotel

A quaint hotel. We were in a double room on night 1, and found it small and stuffy, we were moved into a super king for night 2 which was much better. Breakfast was disappointing, it took 20 minutes before we got coffee and another 20 before the food arrived. Dinner on the other hand was divine. It was a good base from which to explore a beautiful area.
