Afio Mai - Walk to Little Oneroa Beach

Afio Mai is an easy, relaxed island home sitting just above Oneroa, made for simple days, beach swims, shared meals, and time spent together across flexible indoor and outdoor spaces.



The Space:

Afio Mai unfolds across several levels, giving families and groups room to spread out without losing a sense of connection. The home has a calm, lived-in feel, natural light through the windows, quiet surroundings, and the atmosphere you get a little back from the main road.



At the centre of the house is a large, social kitchen designed for people who enjoy cooking together. Stainless benches, open shelving, and practical equipment make preparing meals straightforward. The indoor dining table works well for relaxed group dinners, or everything can move outside to the wood-fired pizza oven, an easy spot to gather under the trees.



Two lounges make the home flexible. One is set up for conversation or music, while the second is ideal for kids’ movies or a quiet place to read. Large doors open to the deck, extending the living space, and the Smart TV and Sonos system add everyday comfort without dominating the atmosphere. The 2nd lounge area has a gas fire if your staying in the winter months.



The bedrooms are setup with comfortable beds. The main bedroom has a queen bed and good privacy with outlooks to the greenery. The second bedroom has a double bed and catches the morning light, good for slow starts or afternoon rests. The bunk room has four bunks in a row, a practical setup for kids or friends staying together.



After a day at Little Oneroa, there’s space to rinse off sandy feet, put together something for dinner, and settle into island life.

Guest Access:

Guests have full access to the home, deck, and outdoor areas.

Check-in is from 2:00pm, and check-out is 10:30am.

Early check-ins or late check-outs may be available for an additional fee, depending on same-day bookings.

Afio Mai sits just above Oneroa, close enough to walk into the village while remaining quiet and tucked away.



Oneroa Village—the island’s vibrant heart of cafés, boutiques, galleries, and beachfront charm.



Start your day at Akito with its fresh, plant-forward menu, or settle in at Wai Kitchen for views over Oneroa Bay.



Both Oneroa Beach and Little Oneroa Beach are within easy reach, perfect for swimming, scenic walks and easy coastal access.



Fenice, Obee’s and The Local offer laid-back dining with a coastal feel, while The Oyster Inn and The Courtyard are go-to favourites for easy, enjoyable evenings out.



For a classic Waiheke experience, Mudbrick and Cable Bay vineyards are just a short drive away, perfect for wine tastings, long lunches, dinners and unforgettable views back toward

toward the city.



Getting Around:

The nearest bus stop is a short walk from the house, with routes to the Matiatia ferry, Oneroa Village, Onetangi, and surrounding beaches.

The bus stops outside all major wineries on the island.



Car hire, e-bikes, and scooters are available in Oneroa, and there is off-street parking for two vehicles if you’re driving. Taxis operate across the island as well.



Other Things to Note:

There is an Nespresso coffee pod machine and a plunger on site.



Beach Towels are not provided.



This property has central aircon and heating.



Minimum stays: 7 nights mid-December to mid-January, 3 nights on long weekends.



Like many Waiheke homes, Afio Mai runs on rainwater, so mindful use is appreciate

The Stay Waiheke team is available 7 days a week 8:30 am to 5pm for guests and for emergencies after hours.
