The Space:

Apartment 3 is designed around light, simplicity, and the ease of being close to the beach. The open-plan living and dining area sits at the front of the apartment, framed by wide windows that look out toward the gardens and glimpses of the bay. Natural light fills the space throughout the day, keeping the apartment warm and welcoming.



The lounge is furnished for relaxed downtime after the beach, with comfortable seating and a clear line of sight to the outdoor area. The kitchen includes full-size appliances, practical bench space, and everything needed for simple meals at home.



The bedroom is set back from the living area for privacy and includes a king bed and soft, even light. The bathroom is clean and functional, with a tiled shower and vanity. Being on the ground floor keeps the apartment accessible and easy to move in and out of, with shared BBQ facilities close by.

Guest Access:

Guests have full access to the apartment’s indoor spaces and outdoor seating area, along with shared use of the BBQ facilities at The Sands. Parking is available onsite. Early check-ins and late check-outs may be available on request, depending on bookings directly before and after your stay.



The Neighborhood:

Apartment 3 by Stay Waiheke sits at the quieter end of Onetangi Beach, with an easy flat walk along the waterfront to local cafés and beachside restaurants.



For breakfast or coffee, guests can head to Charlie Farley’s or the Beach Store Waiheke, both popular for relaxed seaside mornings. Lunch options include Three Seven Two and The Heke, which offers a modern grill menu and brewery setting just a few minutes away. For dinner, Ki Māha provides refined beachfront dining, while Casita Miro serves Spanish-inspired shared plates overlooking the vines.



Nearby wineries include Tantalus Estate and Obsidian Vineyard, both offering tastings and relaxed vineyard dining.



Getting Around:

The nearest bus stop is on Fourth Avenue / The Strand.

Buses run from Onetangi, stopping close to all major wineries, including The Heke, then continue into Oneroa and on to the Matiatia passenger ferry.

Taxis, e-bikes, scooters, and hire cars are also available across the island. Parking is provided at the property.



Other Things to Note:

This is a self-catered holiday home, not a fully catered stay. We provide a starter supply of essentials such as toilet paper, coffee, tea, and milk to help you settle in on arrival. Once these starter items have been used, guests are responsible for purchasing any additional supplies needed during their stay.



Beach towels are provided at all The Sands properties managed by Stay Waiheke.



The Sands operates on rainwater tanks, so guests must be mindful of water use, especially during summer.



There is a ceiling fan in the bedroom. And a wall heater in the living room area.



The property has a coffee plunger.



There is no smoking inside the apartment or on the balconies. External smoke detectors are fitted, and any Fire Brigade call-out will incur a $5,000 fee charged to the guest. Smoking is permitted only in the designated picnic area.



Shared gas BBQs are available.



Minimum stays:

7 nights mid-December to mid-January

3 nights on holiday weekends

2 nights at all other times

The Stay Waiheke team is available 7 days a week from 8:30am to 5pm for general queries.
