- Beech Timber is a dog-friendly, true off-grid glamping retreat on approximately 25 private acres near Red River Gorge -
Welcome to Beech Timber, a rustic off-grid escape made for travelers who actually want to unplug. Set on roughly 25 private wooded acres with developed hiking trails, a creek, firepit, outdoor kitchen, hammock, tent camping space, outdoor shower, and privy, this stay is much closer to camping-with-a-roof than a traditional cabin. Spend your days hiking your own private trails, relaxing by the creek, cooking outside, lounging in the hammock, or simply enjoying how quiet things get when there’s no TV, no A/C, and very little standing between you and the woods.
• Important Off-Grid Note: Beech Timber does not have traditional electricity, running water, A/C, or heat. A small solar setup provides one outlet for charging small devices or light sources. Please plan and pack accordingly.
• Outdoor Kitchen + Amenities: The minimalist outdoor kitchen includes a propane stove and sink setup using two 5 gallon water jugs. The property also includes a charcoal grill, beautiful firepit area, hammock, tent camping area, outdoor rainwater shower, outdoor privy, creek access, and approximately 25 private acres with developed hiking trails.
• Sleeping Arrangements: - Ground Floor: 1 Queen Bed + 1 Twin Bed - Loft: 2 Queen Beds
• Bedding Note: Beds may be stored upright and will be unmade when you arrive. Fresh linens are kept protected in totes to help keep them clean in the heavily wooded environment. Guests will need to lower the beds and make them using the provided linens.
The outdoor shower operates on collected rainwater only, and we do not supply additional shower water. You are welcome to bring extra water if needed. If you plan to use the shower or nearby creek, please bring biodegradable soap.
• Towels: Towels are not provided, so please plan to bring your own.
• Pet Policy: Beech Timber is dog-friendly with no additional pet fee. Dogs only, please. Be sure to include pets with your reservation at checkout so our housekeeping team knows to expect them. Dogs must be crated if left unattended inside the cabin.
• Starter Essentials: Fresh bed linens are provided and stored in protected totes. We also include an Essential Starter Pack with 2 rolls of toilet paper, 1 roll of paper towels, biodegradable dish soap, 3 trash bags, and 1 fresh sponge.
• Water: Please plan to bring plenty of drinking water and any additional water your group may need for cooking, washing, or showering during your stay. There is no running water at Beech Timber.
• Firewood + Grill: Firewood and charcoal are not provided. We encourage purchasing firewood locally to help prevent the spread of invasive species and protect our beautiful wooded areas. Please bring charcoal for the grill.
• Parking + Access: Beech Timber is accessible by standard vehicles under normal weather conditions. 4WD is always recommended during winter weather, snow, ice, heavy rain, or other inclement conditions. Trailers are prohibited.
• Location: Beech Timber offers a secluded setting near Red River Gorge while keeping hiking, horseback riding, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, zip lines, sightseeing, restaurants, and other area adventures within reach.
• A Note About Nature: You’re staying in the heart of Kentucky’s Red River Gorge, surrounded by the beautiful Appalachian Mountains and all the nature that comes with them. While our cabins are professionally cleaned and routinely treated for pests, occasional insects and other woodland visitors may still make an appearance—especially during warmer months. This is a natural part of staying in a heavily wooded mountain environment and does not necessarily indicate a cleanliness or pest-control issue.
Still scrolling? Beech Timber has no Wi-Fi to distract you, no A/C to spoil you, and 25 acres practically begging you to go outside. If that sounds amazing instead of alarming, you’ve probably found your place. - Please contact us as soon as possible if you must cancel or reschedule your stay. No refunds or date modifications within 14 days or less of your arrival.
- No refunds are permitted due to weather. No exceptions. Winter weather (snow/ice) and flooding can occur in the area. You should be given the option to add Trip Insurance at booking check-out.

The cabin and surrounding grounds are exactly as described. While it's off-grid, it's still really nice. Yes, it's in the woods so there might be bugs or leaf debris. Yes, it's an outhouse, so it will smell like an outhouse, but that is all part of being in the great outdoors. There are cute solar-powered lights inside and out. There's a very nice propane stove outside, a great picnic table, amazing fire pit, creek that swirls around the property, and lots of land for tromping around. It really provided a wonderful escape and is excellent for just a couple of people or a group. There's plenty of space to find your own time and space if you were staying there with a group. The whole place just makes you want to spend time in nature, and that is the whole reason for going, right?! The maintenance folks were also very responsive when I arrived late and brain dead and had trouble opening the gate!

Perfectly remote and disconnected
No connectivity and no power, dense forest in every direction, exactly what we wanted. The kitchen station made for wonderfully easy meal prep and cleanup, the rainwater shower cool and refreshing after hiking, the campfire site tailor-made for relaxation, and the cabin more than spacious.

Gorgeous, private property
We love this place, the caves, trails and creeks can’t be beat. Fire pit is perfect. The cabin is rough. Definitely bring your own linens. Mice droppings everywhere, even on linen bags, and missing sheets and pillow cases. We didn’t try the shower, but did use all 10 gallons of water for cooking and dishes. Porta potty was totally full- hadn’t been emptied since September. We’d stay again for the location, but I’ll bring tent and sleeping bags.

Definitely Off Grid
This property is most definitely off grid. No electricity, water nor lights. I would’ve loved it better if it would’ve been warmer out but that was my choice in booking dates. It would be a fantastic place in warmer months. They had for the most part what we needed. We just picked a bad time. However the hut and the property were pretty neat. We found the zip line and swings on the last day and my boys loved them. I would definitely book again but like I said in warmer months. We enjoyed it.

Beautiful property! Challenges could be easily fixes.
The property was incredibly. The children loved exploring and having the space to ourselves.
Our only challenges were that when we arrived at the verified time the space was a mess. Cleaners arrived an hour and a half after check in and didn’t really clean and forgot the leave sheets for one bed. There was also a wasps nest in the cabin. Broken house for the shower and no water left for us to use as described. They did bring back a half bottle of water. I hope these are things that can be fixed so others can enjoy the beautiful space.

Wonderful peaceful reset
We had a great time and the cabin and scenery was what we had imagined. Our evenings were peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed hiking the trails on the property and the map provided onsite was accurate. We were close to the parks to go and visit but far enough away to have the quiet we desired. We enjoyed our evening cookouts and bonfires. We had a few issues but we're able to easily resolve. The two hoses connecting to the outdoor shower had a bad connection valve. They had leaked out all the water. We were able to use the hanging
shower bag that was provided and it worked out just fine. Also, one of the propane tanks for the gas stove didn't work right but there was a second one provided that worked just fine. We definitely would like to come back and stay again!
