The description sounded perfect - a single family home in Binghamton that allowed pets! I was looking forward to a relaxing week to take advantage of things in the listing such as a back yard, gazebo, child’s play area and garage. Note – the host has now removed much of this language after I questioned it and the condition of the exterior left much to be desired. For the record, the interior was clean and had the basic amenities that were listed. But things like the debris in the side & back yards and on the roof did not make for a safe place to hang out. If you do want to use the yard, bring your own lawn chairs. One bedroom listed had only an 18” entry door which is not a legal egress. Multiple appliances in the kitchen are plugged into a surge protector but there is no GFCI outlet. You can’t enjoy the view out the kitchen window because it is covered with a cafeteria tray since the kitchen backs to a covered porch that is not accessible to guests. Both entry doors are in poor condition with peeling paint and a loose door frame. The keys for these doors can be duplicated so I guess you have to trust that no prior guest will make a copy. I have included some photos to contrast with the awesome photos that the host has listed. I had booked for 5 nights but I walked away within a few hours of arrival. This is the first time that a vrbo property has left me feeling very uncomfortable and unsafe.
