Sloths and monkeys in the tree right above our house
What a beautiful property. We had 10 of us plus a one year old baby. We love the swimming pool. Every couple had their own room and bathroom. Yves (our host) Was awesome. He took great care of us and had perfect recommendations. We literally sat in the pool/house and watched about 15 monkeys in the tree above us and a sloth. Great little community with lots to do and amazing beaches.
This property is amazing with an awesome property manager, Yves. Yves was very helpful with all of our transportation needs and with planning our excursions. Beautiful landscape. Heated pool. Very spacious for the 11 of us that stayed for a week. Bonus 2nd kitchen with outdoor seating. It's located close to the beach, shops and restaurants. lagroup
Yves was a super host. The best. Very responsive and went way beyond in helpfulness. The property is fairly close to a highway so there is ambient noise. Location is otherwise excellent. Property itself is very well kept with beautiful gardens. Would definitely recommend.
We had an incredible stay at this Villa Mango! The location was perfectâjust a short walk to the beach, which made it easy to enjoy the sun and surf whenever we wanted. The property itself was spacious, with plenty of room for our group to relax and spread out.
One of the highlights was the combination of indoor and outdoor kitchens. Whether we were cooking outside by the private pool or preparing a meal indoors, the setup was perfect. We also loved the cozy indoor living space for watching movies or playing games in the evenings.
The property was surrounded by wildlife, and we often spotted monkeys and capybaras right on site! There are also natural parks nearby, making it a great spot for nature lovers. The covered porch was ideal for relaxing and visiting, rain or shine.
Our host went above and beyond, ordering us fresh seafood and providing fantastic recommendations for restaurants and local tours. Their helpfulness really made the stay even more special.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we can't wait to come back!
The host lived on the property and was available for whatever was needed. he was friendly and provided us with bottled water.
We loved the 3 bungalows. The curtains on the windows were not darkening curtains and did not allow for privacy. therefore you could see into the room when the lights were on.
Beautiful place for a large family to stay. I would stay here again. walking distance to the beach, natonal forest and town.
Villa mango was the perfect spot for our family reunion. A pool in the centre everyone with their own space and room and a gorgeous outdoor kitchen and bbq. Would highly recommend. Yves was such a great host and helped with every small question and even sourced some amazing fresh fish for us one day. Thank you!
Ivan could not have been more accommodating. He asked the whole family on day two if there was any thing he could do to make our stay better. I said my bed was harder than I prefer and Ivan had a pillow top for me the next day. Appreciated that Ivan! The property is beautiful, we counted 9 fruit bearing trees while relaxing in the pool. The pool itself was clean and used daily. We also used the outdoor kitchen as much as possible and we all loved it. Two cute Agoutiâs live on the property! Youâll likely see them too. The rooms were all clean and had their own shower and the water pressure was first world too. Like lobster? Talk to Ivan. He helped us get ten fresh lobster at a GREAT price. Waking up to howler monkeys and coffee is a memory I will cherish. This property is a slice of paradise and the host is a gem of a human being. Would and will stay here again. PURA VIDA!!
Superb property and great communication with the owner, Yves, who greeted us and proactively recommended local restaurants and grocery stores etc. the house has a superb character, overhead fans and period furniture, but modernised. thereâs an outdoor kitchen, a superb pool, and all with a well maintained garden filled with (to my eyes) exotic plants
The property is beautiful and relaxing. Mr Yves is a great landlord, thank you so much for a wonderful stay. We enjoyed a lot. For sure we'll come back in the future!
Nice location with plenty of room for family and nice pool for the kids. Lots of monkeys at location one afternoon and tropical trees were beautiful. Nice outside grill/kitchen area by pool. Close to the beach!
As a group of 10 adult friends/couples it was the perfect set up. Every room had a private en-suite and separate entrance with a key. The communal area consisted of an indoor and an outdoor kitchen and seating area, a pool, a 2 piece bathroom, an outdoor shower and some spectacular gardens.
We were walking distance to Cahuita main stretch of restaurants and beaches and the National park.
Yves was available and responsive any time we sent a What's App question. He lives on the property, so that added a level of security but we rarely saw him unless we sought him out as he has a fully separate entrance.
If I had to list negatives, it would be that the beds were very hard and the pillows were very thin and sparse. The lighting was quote dim and it was a challenge getting hot water but I find this to be the case throughout Costa Rica unless we stay in heavily populated cities, which I prefer to avoid.
The town felt safe and welcoming and we will definitely be back.
With three separate bungalows and 5 bedrooms in total (each with a private bath) this property is an excellent choice for larger groups. Everything was very clean.
Yves was a pleasure to work with. He even helped us order food when we wanted to have takeout.
The pool was very refreshing after hanging out on the beach for a time!
We decided to visit Costa Rica for my 50th birthday, booking Villa Mango for our time there was the best decision ever. The property is beautiful and easily accommodated all ten of us with private bedrooms and bathrooms for each couple. The outdoor eating area was perfect for the meals that we enjoyed as a group. The private pool was so refreshing and very much appreciated on the sunny days. We were able to work with the property manager to have breakfast prepared for us on site each morning and dinners brought in a few nights during our stay both done by local restaurant owners. Our stay here in Cahuita was perfect! If youâre looking for a great place to stay in Costa Rica scroll no further, Villa Mango is everything you could need.
Villa Mango is a delightful retreat in the heart of the sweet town of Cahuita, a short walk to the national park down a pleasant residential lane. Staying here we got a real feel for what it could be like to live in a small Costa Rican town. The grounds and multiple casitas are beautifully maintained and comfortable with a relaxed, but elegant and artistic feel. We loved how the well thought out spaces allowed for both privacy and togetherness, creating natural gathering spots around outdoor dining, pool lounging and relaxing on the porches. We were delighted to find that even right in town, we were visited by howler monkeys and agoutis! While the property was truly wonderful, the best thing about Villa Mango is itâs host Yves. Yves was by far the most responsive, accommodating and all around lovable host we have experienced in a vacation rental. He really went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Villa Mango holds a special place in our hearts!
My group consisted of 6 adults.
First off, I cannot say enough positive things about our host, Yves (aka Ivan).Started before even arriving, he would answer ALL (numerous rounds) of my questions in a timely manner. While we were there, he was a FIVE STAR host. Need a bikeâŠjust say the word. Need a taxi, WhatsApp Yves. Need ANYTHING ~ Yves did what he could to accommodate and make it right IMMEDIATELY.He lives on the property, but we rarely saw him.
The location of the villa is a 10-minute walk to town and Natâl Park on a rocky, quiet, safe road. Headlamp/flashlight needed at night as parts are not equipped with street lights. It is also located next to the major highway, which did give us road noise during our stay. However, most times it was able to be overlooked due to activities being enjoyed at the villa.
MAIN HOUSE: There are ceiling fans in each of the bedrooms, but the oscillating fans really made the difference as far as cooling during our sleep at night. The bathrooms were large with a nice shower. Shower had good pressure and hot water immediately. The porch had two fans and was a blessing during the rainy days and most evenings.A few nights the mosquitos were out.
BUNGALOW #1: This bedroom was quite a bit warmer than the main house. I believe due to smaller room, lower ceiling, and less overall air movement allowed.Yves supplied this room with an oscillating fan, which helped immensely keeping my in-laws cooler. The shower pressure in this bathroom was not nearly as strong as the main house and the water temperature was more temperamental as well.Unfortunately, there were no fans on the porch; therefore, making it too hot to sit and enjoy.
We enjoyed the National Park.We did one walking tour with Richard Robinson (HIGHLY recommend him) and many times walked the beach and frolicked in the water.
We walked a few times to Playa Negra, north side of Cahuita. It is a rather long walk but doable if the heat/humidity doesnât bother you.We took surfing lessons from Karina ~ again, highly recommend her as she was very thorough and caring about her clientsâ safety.
Soda Kawe was our go-to place for breakfast.Another fav spot of ours was the Cahuita Natâl Park Hotel & Restaurant. This place is right outside the park with a great view and tasty food.
We took the bus to Puerto Viejo twice.Recommend doing it if you arenât in a hurry as the bus is never on time.
We enjoyed our stay at Villa Mango in Cahuita and would recommend to others.
Walk to beach, town and any restaurant you could possibly want. Close 20 minute drive to Puerto Viejo. Ivanâs place was very clean and perfect for our family of five adults.
Fantastic property with a very gracious host. Very private property, 5 min easy walk to the beach and town. Everything was very clean and comfortable for 8 people. The pool was fantastic and relaxing. Yves was very prompt at answering any questions or concerns. This is a place we would all stay again. The right place for families or large groups.
This property was just perfect for our family of 5. Pre arrival communication with Yves was so easy and helpful and he was an ideal host the entire stay. The property is private, secure, tranquil and lush. Loved the separate sleeping quarters with private baths, private pool, and all the animals and plants to view while swaying on the porch hammock. Kitchen was well stocked, Yves is a wealth of information and hospitality. We already want to go back!
Our family of 5 adults had a wonderful time at Villa Mango! The grounds are beautiful and the pool was clean and refreshing. Bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, each with their own bathroom. Really enjoyed having a nice kitchen and dining area. Great location - just a short walk to town. Saw and heard howler monkeys very close to the property. Two adorable friendly cats on site to hang out with (and a third pretty one that was shy). Comfy hammock and great covered porch - loved having coffee out there on rainy mornings. Yves and Elena couldn't have been nicer and were very responsive anytime we contacted them with questions either via What's App or in person. We would definitely stay at Villa Mango again (and hope to soon!) Highly recommend.
Villa Mango was perfect for our family vacation. The houses and the grounds are exactly what we love
We were greeted and treated like royalty at Villa Mango by The Host with the Most, Yves. The rooms and gardens shine with his attention to detail to make our stay there just about perfect. He provided a variety of drinks for us, wine, beer, rum, juice & coffee. His super recommendations led us to the Jaguar rehab center for a fantastic tour, bird & animal watching with a good local guide and a variety of excellent restaurants.
There is a huge variety of animals & birds that frequent his property. No kidding, more than what we saw at the Natâl Park! We spent good times on the deck just watching. We also thoroughly enjoyed his company whenever we could snag him to have a talk during the day, or a drink, in the evening. We are actually having Yves withdrawals since we left Cahuita.
The variety of accommodations are very suitable for families or groups friends. Itâs lovely pool was great for cooling off. Itâs broad, shallow steps would be perfect for kids.
We highly recommend Villa Mango & we hope to return.

We had a wonderful time!!! Living in a tropical garden with plenty to do in Cahuita!
Our family of three generations consisting of nine people stayed in the three houses located in a magnificent tropical garden. The property is a lovely place to be with swimming pool and outside grill and covered outside dining table which we used frequently. Our host lives on site and was always ready to help in every way and find whatever we needed in the area. He also helped us organize a lovely birthday dinner on property which was a special treat. There were plenty of activities for family members of
all three generations. A perfect place for a family vacation.
