Sehr schönes Haus. Sehr gute Ausstattung, insbesondere der Küche. Sehr schöner Pool. Allerdings: keine Leselampen in den Schlafzimmern. Das WLAN Netz hat nicht funktioniert, wurde aber in der Hausbeschreibung als existent angegeben. Trotz Bemühungen des Vermieters war das WLAN Netz mangelhaft. Daher ist das Haus nur eingeschränkt zu empfehlen - ein so teures Haus ohne funktionierendes WLAN …. Unsere Familie würde das Haus deswegen nicht erneut buchen.

Wie ich Ihnen bereits während Ihres Aufenthaltes mitgeteilt habe, hatten wir vorübergehend ein Antennenproblem in der Region. Die Gemeinden Cheillé und Azay le rideau waren zwei Wochen lang betroffen. Das Problem ist nun behoben. Es tut uns leid, dass es während Ihres Aufenthalts aufgetreten ist. Eine wirklich schöne Ferienwohnung im Grünen
Wir waren mit zwei Familien in der Unterkunft. Bei der Ankunft wurden wir sehr nett von der Besitzerin empfangen. Das Anwesen liegt eher abseits der nächsten Stadt, an einem kleinen Wäldchen mitten in der Natur. Die Wohnung war sehr sauber und hatte alles was man braucht. Der Wohn-Essbereich ist großzügig geschnitten und bietet genügend Platz für zwei Familien mit Kindern. Auch wenn es mal regnen sollte. Die Umgebung lädt zu vielen Entdeckungen ein mit ihren Flüssen und Schlössern.... Wir würden diese Unterkunft jederzeit wieder nehmen. Viele Grüße aus Deutschland

Ein wunderschönes Haus in einem tollen Garten mit Pool, der leider um diese Jahreszeit schon geschlossen war. Dennoch war es ein traumhaftes Domizil und toller Ausgangsort um verschiedene Schlösser zu besuchen.

Super Haus, super Wetter
Das Haus war super, alles da, was das Herz begehrt, die Lage optimal, um in einer Woche die Schlösser in der Umgebung zu erkunden. Wir hatten traumhaftes Wetter, blauer Himmel, Sonnenschein. bis 27 Grad!! Leider war der Pool bereits im Winterschlaf und die Franzosen hatten die meisten Attraktionen für Touristen eingestellt, so dass nur die Besichtigungen der Schlösser kurzfristig möglich war, so war es für unsere Kinder nicht ganz soooo spannend. Dennoch, das Haus war toll und nur zu empfehlen.

Super vacances entre amis
Nous avons adoré le lieu, les photos sont fidèles à la réalité,c'est très charmant et végétal. Les chambres sont agencées de manière à ce que chaque couple ait pu trouver sa place. Comme dit dans un autre commentaire, les 2 chambres qui communiquent via une salle de bain sont plus appropriées pour une famille car il y a moins d'intimité. Nous cuisinons beaucoup en vacances et avons pu trouver tous les ustensiles nécessaires (attention cependant à la taille du freezer qui est assez petite). Enfin le gite est calme et proche d'une forêt, sa situation est assez centrale pour toutes les visites à faire. C'est vraiment un endroit à recommander.

Accommodation layout a little unusual, but oodles of space and all necessary facilities. Hosts are a delightful and friendly couple who live a short walk away. Beautiful property with super facilities including parking, small pool, large outside terrace and a very large kitchen and dining area - perfect for large groups but with well designed areas for more privacy (with bedrooms on either side of the property). Laurence and Yannick are delightful hosts and live close by, and sorted out a very minor problem within minutes. The kitchen is well designed and easy to cook meals for a large group. With two bedrooms on either side of the property it is great for two families but the shared bathroom on one side of the upper house means it is better for parents and children to share (no real privacy for two sets of adults to use). The outside space is lovely, and we sat around the pool most afternoons (pool is small but perfect for cooling off). There is a cycle path just up from the house which takes you into nearby Azay which is stunning (around 10-15 minutes on a bike). Would highly recommend the house and would love to return to this beautiful area.

Très agréable séjour dans cette magnifique maison lumineuse
Parfait séjour pour des vacances entre amis avec enfants. Nous n'avons pas pu bénéficier de la piscine (avril) mais nous avons profité du jardin, très beau et bien équipé (bains de soleil, terrasse parasol) La maison est très lumineuse et la partie cuisine séjour très agréable. 2 zones de nuit très distinctes, agréable pour 2 familles comme nous, chacun a eu son espace. À noter que 2 chambres sont accolées à une salle de bain commune, promiscuité adaptée pour une famille, moins pour 2 couples. Emplacement géographique très appréciable et accueil et disponibilité des hôtes au top. Bref, une super location !

Excellent!
This is a wonderful property. Very clean, exceptionally well equipped and a perfect location tucked away in a quiet hamlet near Azay. We kept in touch with Laurence on our arrival day, and she came to the property as she lives a few doors away. Having the hosts close by gave us re-assurance in case we had any problems, but we didn’t. There is a large ground floor bedroom with a big en-suite. Above that room there is a huge bedroom with a cot, and two singles and a double. Plenty of room in that upstairs bedroom for a family to share. This upstairs bedroom has the use of a shower room and separate wc downstairs on the hallway. Across the other side of the house on the mezzanine floor there are two bedrooms that share a shower room with wc. These two rooms both had double beds in them. I think we had the option to have one of these rooms set up as a twin, but check that with the owner beforehand in case I’ve got it wrong. The swimming pool is lovely. Nice and warm, and a welcome relief on the hot days. Plenty of sun-loungers. A huge outdoor table and many chairs to seat a large group. The only VERY SMALL issue we had was in relation to the security deposit. We assumed from the wording on the website that it would be by way of a credit card scan, as it spoke about “not levied” and “returned within a week of your departure” but Laurence explained that she couldn’t process a credit card. We therefore had to use cash. Apparently in France cheques are still used a lot, and therefore many of their French guests hand over a cheque (which is not banked) and it is posted back after the property has been checked. As I said, not a major issue, but just to be aware to avoid confusion. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this property- Yannick and Laurence are superb hosts and they have made Squirrels a wonderful retreat in which to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside in a cosy little corner of France. If we return to the area in the future this will be top of our list as a place to stay.

Our Stay at "Squirrels"
This is a really lovely house, set in a hamlet in beautiful grounds, that are not overlooked, with woodland beyond the boundaries. We were 4 retired adults and there was plenty of space with a large kitchen/family room, plus a double en-suite bedroom, bathroom and toilet downstairs, plus the upstairs bedrooms. The pool is great, and maintained at a really comfortable 28 degrees. The owner is on hand to sort out any minor issues that might occur (none during our stay) and ready with helpful advice on the local area.

An amazing place to relax!
The property is quite wonderful. In one of the hottest weeks of the year, we kept cool by dipping in and out of the pool. The garden and patio area are so lovely that we hardly spent any time inside the house, apart from sleeping. We would recommend it for two or three families, rather than four couples because the smallest bedroom and the larger one next to it share a "intimate" access to the bathroom.

A lovely place to stay in the Loire Valley
A really practical house for a family stay. In two halves, split by the large kitchen /diner/lounge, young children and parents can have one side, with generous bathroom provision, and grandparents can have the other. A lovely and very safe pool was a great hit. Our second stay, and we'll go again!

Lovely home to relax with the family
We were looking for a family friendly home with a pool to escape to for a week following a stressful couple of years, and that’s exactly what we found in Cheille. Everything was easy, the weather great and we enjoyed walking in the forest, visiting Azay Le Rideau, Chinon, Tours and Langeais. We’d recommend Les Ecureuils to anybody looking for a similar break.

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour au gîte Les Ecureuils. Le gîte est très agréable tant par ses grands espaces intérieurs qu'extérieurs et la piscine a profité aux petits comme aux grands ! Manque de propreté pour un ménage très cher et équipement à rénové
Bien que la maison soit joli et au calme pas mal d’équipements sont à remplacer ou à rénover; chaises manquantes à l’extérieur, matelas et vaisselle en mauvais état. Mais ce qui m’a frappé et choqué et le pourquoi de mon commentaire c’est le ménage. Il n’a pas du tout été fait en profondeur , vaisselle encore avec résidu de nourriture ( en période covid merci ) , bonbons dans des tasses ou paillette , poussière , toile d’araignée , cheveux dans le bac de douche,... je l’ai donc signalé à la propriétaire car on peut parfois sans le vouloir oublier des choses dans la précipitation d’une nouvelle arrivée et lors de mon départ j’ai donc demandé qu’une partie du ménage me soit remboursé mais on m’a donné un non catégorique ce que je ne trouve pas correcte et pas commerciale du tout . Pendant 3 jours des souris m’ont ennuyé pendant la nuit et je ne lui en ai pas tenu rigueur car ce sont des choses qui arrivent. Mais quand on demande autant pour un ménage , pour ma part cela doit être parfait .

Bonjour, Tout d’abord, encore une fois, croyez bien que je suis désolée de la nature de nos échanges. Je n’ai généralement que de très bons retours et je n’envisage pas d’accueillir mes hôtes dans un autre climat que celui de la convivialité. Je tiens cependant à apporter une réponse à toutes ces remarques. En premier lieu concernant le forfait ménage, chaque samedi, deux femmes m’accompagnent de 10h à 14h pour préparer le gîte. Vous m’avez dit qu’en Belgique une femme de ménage était payée 40 euros pour 6h de travail. Sachez qu’en France, ceci est illégal et je respecte suffisamment ces personnes et leur travail, pour être décente avec elles. Je n’ai généralement aucun retour négatif sur la qualité du ménage. Concernant les souris, j’en suis encore une fois sincèrement désolée. Nous avons commencé le traitement rapidement, nous avons pu constater ensemble, au cours de votre séjour, leur éradication. Afin de me faire pardonner de ce désagrément, je vous ai offert des bouteilles de vin que vous avez d’abord acceptées, puis refusées pour finalement les prendre. Vous avez été dans un tel état d’agressivité que votre mère vous a demandé d’arrêter et que je ne pouvais plus que prendre du recul quant à la valeur de vos innombrables remarques. Je sais prendre en compte les critiques constructives et je ne manque jamais l’occasion d’améliorer le confort du gîte. En conclusion, je pense être victime d’une colère dont je ne suis pas la cause

The Squirrels September 2019
The Squirrels is in an ideal location for visiting Chateaus and Loire winerys. The house easily met our expectations in terms of space and facilities. Its location in small rural village, just outside of Azay, is perfect for those looking for a peaceful base. The weather during our early September stay reached 30, making the swimming pool a welcome addition. For our party of 4 adults,he house was well serviced and spacious with all the fcailities we needed. The hosts were friendly & approcahable and on the plus side spoke English. In summary this is an excellent property in and excellent location with excellent hosts

Beautiful property in a peaceful location. We really enjoyed relaxing on the patio with a cold bottle of Chinon rose, and swimming in the pool.

The property came up to our expectations. We had rented such accommodation before in France and this one was one of the best. It’s location was exactly what we wanted. Easy access to the Loire Château and wineries. The property was also easy to find when traveling to it from Paris, as we were. We were only 4 people in a property that obviously can house more. But all the facilities we wanted were available. The property is surrounded by a large garden with a good sized pool. Very rural which was what we wanted. As the weather was so good we only eat outside from the barbecue. Never used the cooker. There were some very minor issues but as the owner lives at the end of the road these were resolved quickly and easily Perfect place for a holiday

Wonderful Holiday home
We had a beautiful holiday at "The Squirrels", a private, peaceful residence. The owners are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable; we found their restaurant recommendations particularly helpful. The home itself is very comfortable and well appointed. We were a family of 3 adults and 2 children. We travelled with a relative with mobility issues; the ground floor master bedroom with king size bed and en suite shower room was perfect for her. The second toilet is on the ground floor, separated from an upstairs bedroom by a large wooden staircase so it may be difficult to access at night for younger children who sleep in that room. The two bedrooms at the top of the "floating" staircase are separated by an en suite shower room. A word of caution if you are tall; the second floor master bedroom (see photo with brown wall matting head board) was the double bed. Perhaps if you notify your hosts in advance, the bed can be swapped with the twins in the "green locker" room, for a more comfortable sleep. A dip in the pool was a perfect way to end a day of sight-seeing. We would highly recommend staying here.

Juste parfait !
Notre séjour a été parfait ! La maison est aussi belle - voire plus - que sur les photos. Elle est très calme, grande et extrêmement agréable. On peut faire de jolies promenades dans les alentours et visiter évidemment de nombreux châteaux. L’accueil, tant de Mélanie que de Laurence, a été très sympathique. Nous vous remercions tous pour le sapin, les chocolats et la bouteille de vin blanc. À une prochaine fois, j’espère ! Amicalement, Marie, Hervé and family 😊😊

Gite de très grande qualité et accueil de même. Le gite en lui-même est spacieux et très agréable à vivre. On s'imagine parfaitement y vivre à temps plein (mais je ne suis pas certain que la propriétaire des lieux soit ouverte à l'idée de le vendre ;-)). Le jardin avec piscine (chauffée) et accès au bois attenant permet de se ressourcer tranquillement. Pas de vis-à-vis et calme garanti. Laurence est une personne agréable ; nous avons eu de très bons conseils sur les activités à effectuer dans la région. Laurence est présente si nécessaire (elle habite à 100m) tout en respectant notre tranquillité. En bref, exactement ce que nous recherchions pour des vacances dans cette région riche en histoire et en vins. Nous y retournerons et l'avons déjà conseillé à des membres de notre famille. Deux recommandations d'activité, tout à fait personnelles, si vous voulez y séjourner : - le château de L'Islette est à voir absolument, avec la visite guidée dans les pas de Rodin et Claudel qui y ont séjourné - pour ceux qui aiment le cheval, le centre équestre à quelques kilomètres (à côté de Langeais) propose des activités tous niveaux avec des encadrantes très compétences, respectueuses des enfants comme des chevaux, et adorables. Lovely holiday home
The house is beautifully set up for a holiday home with two bedroom areas at separate ends of the property (each with showers) and a living and cooking area in between. All is very well appointed and equipped and the pool is particularly well thought out from the point of view of safety. The owners live close by and are very helpful and friendly. We had two small children in our party and the owners went to great lengths to make sure that the sleeping arrangements suited our needs. The property is in a very quiet and safe corner of one of the hamlets that comprise Cheillé. Shops are 5 minutes away by car and there is a good selection of places to eat nearby and easy access to many tourist attractions. A very good base for a Loire valley holiday.
