We booked this home specifically because it advertised having air conditioning, a must-have given the high temperatures in Chico during our stay. Upon arrival, we discovered the AC was completely nonfunctional. The ceiling fans were mounted high on vaulted ceilings and did very little to cool the space. Inside temperatures hovered around 80F and would have gotten much worse as the next few days in Chico were hotter.We contacted the host immediately, but were connected to what is clearly an overseas call center. They could not send a technician or even bring us fans. We spent a miserable night trying to sleep in the heat, contacted them again the next morning, and were told we’d likely be without AC for the entire stay as no one was able to come check them out. Unable to get help or even speak to a local manager, we had no choice but to leave and find another place to stay. The “host” has refused any refund, and VRBO routed us back to the same unhelpful offshore call center.This property is not being managed by a real person and when something goes wrong, you’re on your own. I’ve never left a negative review before, but I hope this helps someone else avoid what we went through. I would never stay there again.
