We had a lovely stay overall – the house is beautifully furnished, cosy, and perfectly located for countryside walks (our dog was in heaven!). The views across the fields are stunning, and waking up to the mist rising over the valley was truly special.
That said, there were a few areas where the experience could have been improved, mostly around comfort and practicalities. The principal bedroom’s en suite had an unpleasant smell that seeped into the room for the first couple of days, though this did clear after running the fan and airing it out. The high chair wasn’t set up on arrival – we eventually found it disassembled in a cupboard after contacting the manager. We also missed having a microwave, as we needed it for sterilising baby equipment, and some of the listed kitchen essentials (like tea, coffee, and sugar) were not provided. A heads-up about the gardener’s early-morning visit would also have been appreciated.
The house does creak quite a lot, which is to be expected for an older property, but light sleepers might want to be aware of this.
Despite these minor issues, we really enjoyed our stay. It’s a beautiful property in a wonderful setting, and with a few small improvements it could be exceptional. We’d happily recommend it to others.
