This property advertises 3 bedrooms, 6 beds, sleeps up to 10 adults. Then it says it is a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom Beach house comfortably accommodating 5 guests - this is a bit closer to the truth. A single bed in the same room as a queen bed might suit a couple with a small child, but it is not suitable for 3 adults. The property is really only comfortable for two couples with possibly 1 child.
The photographs are clearly very old and in parts make the property look more attractive than it is. The living area and main bedrooms now have plantation shutters and the furniture configurations and décor has changed from the photos. The two bathrooms both have shower, toilet and basin – they are small but functional.
The so-called rumpus room is completely different from the photos – it is cramped with a double bed & a tribunk; anyone getting up the ladder would hit their head on the ceiling. There is nowhere to watch the TV – possibly visible from the bottom of the tribunk. The pebbledash floor is covered in carpet tiles that slide around – a rug might make it feel more habitable. There is a small hanging rack, but nowhere else to keep clothes/bags. The roof/ceiling is still corrugated with some clear panels (as per photos), so with thin curtains and blind it is impossible to keep the light out. It is an absolute fallacy to suggest this room could accommodate 5 adults! There is a $118 (linen fee) surcharge for use of this room even if you only require 1 bed. Negotiation of any sort was impossible. The linen came in sealed bags from the laundry dumped on the beds - sheets, pillowcases, towels, doona covers. We had to make the beds ourselves to find there were only 2 single doonas available!
Outside is shown as a covered patio but there is no shade making it impossible to sit outside during the day in the middle of summer. There is an old wooden table with 6 chairs but one was broken!
Inside the living-area and kitchen are spacious. There are 3 sofas and some easy chairs but the dining-table only has 6 metal cafe-style chairs and could never accommodate 10. Apart from the lack of dishwasher the older-style kitchen seemed well-equipped.
That said we made the most of it and enjoyed our Christmas. We just want to paint a more realistic picture of the constraints of the property so that others are not mislead. For the price we paid we were disappointed in the presentation of the “3rd bedroom” that could not comfortably accommodate one or two adults.
