Having recently stayed at a beach rental “Rock the Boat” in Lost Colony, Port Aransas, Tx, managed by Vacasa, I must express my deep dissatisfaction and warn prospective renters against entrusting their vacation experiences to this company or this owner. We stayed at the same unit last year and it was fine but apparently management got worse. My stay, intended as a romantic getaway to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday, was marred by a series of egregious failures in both accommodation and customer service.
Upon arrival at the property at 5:00PM (check in time was a very late 4:00PM), we were immediately greeted by an overpowering stench of insecticide, reminiscent of a chemical warfare zone. This nauseating odor permeated the air, suggesting a recent dousing with the likes of "Raid" or some other industrial-grade bug bomb. Not only was this olfactory assault deeply unpleasant, but it also posed a health risk to my wife, who suffers from sensitivity to such noxious fumes. Despite our discomfort, we soldiered on, opening windows and ventilating the space for hours in a futile attempt to mitigate the stench. Regrettably, our efforts yielded little relief, with one room remaining particularly pungent throughout our stay.
