First, our room was not as clean as it should have been. We stayed from Thursday through Sunday, and during that time, housekeeping never came to service our room—not once. We had to take our own trash out to prevent it from overflowing, even after I specifically asked housekeeping staff who were cleaning our floor.
The pool table and game area were also not available like they are at other Tru locations. Additionally, having to show my driver’s license to check out the pool table was frustrating. Once I am checked in, I should not have to carry my ID around the hotel.
We specifically chose this location because it advertised an indoor heated pool. Unfortunately, the pool was extremely cold. I brought this issue to the attention of three different staff members, and it was never addressed.
Breakfast was another disappointment. On our first morning, the pancake machine was broken, and on our last day, the toaster oven was not working. Food frequently ran out, and we had to wait for items to be refilled. Although egg toppings were listed, they were never available. The coffee also did not seem fresh—it was very dark, bitter, and difficult to drink.
Overall, this was by far the worst-maintained Tru hotel we have ever stayed at.
That said, the staff member who checked us in was excellent—very friendly, helpful, and professional. They even followed up to see whether the pool issue had been addressed, which we truly appreciated.
