  • Just fifteen minute's drive from Dartmouth lies the small village of Strete. Perfectly poised on the South West Coast Path it is set within an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and offers a picturesque gateway to the wonderful beaches and towns that dot the South Hams coastline.

    Featuring an open-plan living arrangement on its top floor, Anchor Cottage is light-filled and spacious, with large windows lending an airy quality to the space, and dark timber trusses accentuating its modern décor. A roomy L-shaped sofa is the perfect place for relaxation and the crisp white colour scheme along with contemporary lighting add a touch of chic to the atmosphere. Amply equipped and well-designed the kitchen is ideal for whipping up anything from a simple breakfast to a delicious roast dinner, and homecooked creations can be shared and enjoyed together within the incorporated dining area. Downstairs, the cottage's master bedroom features a comfortable king size bed with views out to the garden, creating a relaxing sanctuary in which to laze the mornings away. Treat yourself to coffee in bed or indulge in a lie-in or two; the slow pace of village life will have you unwinding from the moment you put your feet up.

    A furnished patio to the front of the cottage means soaking up the Devonshire sunshine is a must, and for warmer evenings it's the ideal place for enjoying alfresco refreshments whilst taking in the seaside air. Anchor Cottage sleeps two guests but with the sofa converting into a bed, it does provide additional sleeping for a further two guests.

    Pets: 1 small or medium dog permitted (2 dogs on request). Please advise the Luxury Coastal team directly if you would like us to host your pet after completing your booking. A charge of £40 per pet per stay/week will be applicable and required before your stay. We will arrange and invoice with you directly upon booking confirmation.

    Good Housekeeping Bond
    We ask our guests for a £100 good housekeeping bond, which is pre-authorised against your card. This is in case there is any damage to the property during your stay. The money is simply reserved and then released afterwards if there is no claim. We will contact you nearer the time of your arrival to arrange this.

Lovely break close to the coast in this well equipped cottage

Great cottage in quiet village. We were disappointed that the 3 local pubs were not serving food on our first night and that the village pub was closed all week. This meant we had to drive to eat out each night and we struggled to find places with availability. We didn’t sit out in the garden as it is not at all private with lots of people passing by and is not enclosed which meant the dog kept wandering up into the road. Surrounding beaches and towns within easy driving distance and Strete Gate beach is perfect with a small kiosk. We had a lovely week but it was a little remote for us.

Good rooms and plenty of space for two plus dog.

Using Satnav it was easy to find and good parking available. The property was well situated at the end of a small terrace and the rooms were large and plenty. Lovely king bed and storage, shower room but needed a mat in shower for safety, had to report the shower doors as were sticking on the runners. Upstairs for the kitchen, dining and relaxing with 2 large roof windows and wall windows overlooking the side passage. Able to sit outside on the front but was in view of all passing down the passage. With the help from a neighbor discovered a great community area for dog walking just 5mins away, bonus and so well maintained. From this area lovely view of the sea and a number of benches to sit and take in this view. In fact our stay was good but could have been made better with little extras, especially this is the first holiday rental where there was no welcome package, ie not even some milk!

Restful two week break

Great cottage with everything we needed. Lovely quiet area within short distance of sea and other places to visit. Highly recommend a visit to Sharpham cheese and wine tasting.

Lovely property for 2 people

The property was very comfortable ,spotlessly clean. Just a suggestion- we thought a few more items of plates and cutlery would be good to make better use of the dishwasher. But lovely stay,really enjoyed being there!

Glorious Devon

The property was clean and bright. However the sofa was uncomfortable and the living area was not really very cosy. There was no radiator in the bathroom which meant that towels could not dry easily. The teapot was hidden away in a lower cupboard so that I only found it on the morning that we left. The key box outside the cottage, by the front door, was very difficult to make work. There were no maps or local information leaflets provided although I imagine that this was probably on order to comply with Covid regulations. A little welcome pack would have been appreciated. There were no instructions about the heating system provided.
