The Bay Cottage never disappoints. I have been coming to the Cape since I was 8 years old. My grandparents got me hooked. To this day, I still stay in the same cottage they rented back in the day. A few major changes all for the good, but deep down inside, this is still the same cottage I remember. In fact, I can still remember the original way the cottage looked, with the large spring on the door that always slammed shut if you didn't hold the door, or just the sound of the spring creaking as you opened the door. What I really remember and miss dearly is the Target Ship that was out in the Bay. My brother and I would run down the street to watch the planes fly really low and drop their bombs onto the ship. You could even hear the whistling noise the bombs made as they were let go from the planes. Nothing beats low tide where you can walk miles just to get to the water. I always tell my friends that visit, when it's low tide, it looks like someone had just pulled the plug from the bathtub, there is no water unless you want to walk; way out to get your feet wet. Once they saw the low tide, they always said I wasn't kidding. Eastham and Bay Cottage on Thumpertown Rd will always hold a special place in my heart. The cottage is well maintained, and the personalized gift bags is always a huge hit. I can't wait for next year's vacation; I know Eastham and The Bay Cottage will not disappoint!!!!
