The room was nice and clean and the staff were really helpful and friendly. The only real downside was the location which was up at the top of a very steep road which a lot less accessible than portrayed. However, the views from the property were amazing and it was nice to be away from the crazy traffic and noise of Ella town.

I was upgraded to a larger room with a great view, which I appreciated. But the manager arranged a driver who took me to a scam-like massage place. It was unsafe and I had to go to the Tourist Police myself to get a full refund. The manager, despite having recommended the driver himself, refused to take responsibility, and his response afterward was far from reassuring. The owner offered a discount the next day but never apologized. I had asked to use the “Pick Me” app, but was pushed to use their driver. For a solo female traveler, Pick Me is safer because of tracking and transparent pricing. The staff seemed unaware of this. Other issues: • The underground room could be seen directly from the balcony, which was also connected to the manager’s room. Sometimes he even spoke to me from the balcony. I had to keep the curtains closed even during the day to feel any privacy. There were no amenities such as shampoo. Also, there was only one old shared hair dryer for the whole hotel, and on some days it wasn’t available. I expected a peaceful stay, but instead felt constantly interfered with. The memory of the massage experience still troubles me, and even without that, the stay was not worth the price. While there were things I appreciated, I cannot say the overall stay was satisfying.

“I recently stayed here, and it was an absolutely amazing experience. When I first looked it up, I saw some older reviews that were negative, but those were from years ago when the building wasn’t finished. Now, it’s a beautifully built place—spotlessly clean, no bugs (which can be an issue in Ella), with a comfortable bed, spacious room, and a pristine bathroom. Everything was just perfect. But the real highlight was the view. From the balcony, I saw the most breathtaking sunrises and panoramas you can find in Ella. The service was outstanding. Priyanath and his team, including the chef and another staff member, were incredibly attentive and always went above and beyond to meet my requests—whether it was arranging a budget-friendly car service or responding quickly on WhatsApp. Even the owner was always available and helpful. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting in the future. It’s a hidden gem, and I’ll definitely be coming back

One of our favourite stays in Sri Lanka! The host was very welcoming and it was a pleasure getting to know him and talk about his country. We were greeted with tea and biscuits on their balcony which has jaw dropping views! You are right in the middle of nature with the mountains surrounding you get easy to get into the centre of town. The room was clean and nicely decorated with a lovely balcony and with the same wonderful view. We had a delicious traditional Sri Lankan breakfast as well. Would highly recommend!

This property is incredibly situated with an amazing view down Ella Gap. The rooms are built into the side of the hill, with wooden doors and windows openingnupmon the view - so tjink more like a challet (or lodge!) than fancynjotel room. You will need your mosquito repellant. The staff are really lovely and can't do enough for you, helping to make plans for hikes, arranging transport, doing any washing you have- they are really spot on. The hotel is up Waterfall Road, which is essentialy a bumpy track, but Tuk Tuks can get up there easily enough. There is a little shortcut into town, walking along the railway (perfectly normal in Sri Lanka and if a train comes, you could easily outrun it!), then, especially at night, best to junp in a Tuk Tuk back up to the Alpine Lodge. It's a very relaxing place, easy to access hiking routes, and a world away from downtown Ella whoch is very touristy. I hoghly recommend a few nights here.

A really lovely accommodation with the most incredible views. The room was clean and spacious with a balcony so you wake up to a view of the mountails The host Priyanatha is so warm, welcoming and always available to help. Breakfast was lovely (especially the hoppers). A short walk (or tuk tuk) into town. Loved my stay here! Thank you!

The resort enjoys a wonderful view of the valley and the staff are incredibly friendly. Each room enjoys a breathtaking view and a high risk of visits by the local monkeys. We ranked the resort as average because of the price point and poor amenities. The property is twice as expensive as neighboring properties, but without the amenities or services. We would have given 4 or 5 stars if the property presented itself as a hostel and not like a resort. Also of note, guests are required to climb steep stairs to enter or depart the property.

Simple and restful lodge!

A simple lodge with awesome views! I was gently greeted by the rising sun. No Aircon but temperatures were between 16 to 18 degrees Celsius in the early morning. You need to be moderately fit to climb down 2 flights of stairs to reach your room. The road up is very tight and big cats may have difficulties going uphill in the tight environment. Hotel manager Priyanatha helped me book a very punctual Tuk Tuk that fetched me up and down. Thank you!

Perfect Place to Stay!

This is the perfect place to stay! Beautiful/modern facility, excellent breakfast/dinner options and able to walk into town. Very spacious room with a stunning view of the mountain side. The staff could not have been more helpful/nice/attentive.
