Cartecay Riverfront A-Frame | Tube, Fish & Firepit
- The Frame - our restored A-Frame on a private stretch of the Cartecay River in Ellijay, Georgia. Less a riverfront cabin than a river you get to live on: coffee on the deck to the sound of the rapids, an afternoon float that ends back at the cabin, deer along the far bank. Two miles to the apple orchards, about seventy from Atlanta.
THE SPACE
Unlike mountain cabins that just offer river access, The Frame was built around the river itself. Our stretch of the Cartecay sits beyond the public tubing take-outs, so the water stays quiet, and the house is positioned to keep the river in view from nearly every room, from the floor-to-ceiling windows to the decks. One guest called it "a special spot to renew," and most days here bear that out: hours by the water, deer and river otters on the bank, the sound of the rapids running underneath all of it.
Inside, authentic mountain character meets a lighter mid-century touch. A soaring floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, laid up by local craftsmen, anchors the living room, with the restored chef's kitchen, premium bedding, and curated details giving the home what one guest described as "a mountain cabin with a boutique hotel feel." The layout runs over three levels, with the third-floor loft tucked into the treetops.
Outside is where The Frame earns its reputation. The covered deck runs along the tree line with river-facing seating and a smart TV, and steps down the bank the fire pit sits ringed with Adirondack chairs at the edge of the water. A gas grill and a Big Green Egg handle the cooking. Walk five minutes upstream, put in, and float right back to the cabin, past a shallow, sandy landing where kids can wade.
