After turning down a wrong lane past the pub in the pitch dark (9pm on an October evening) ascending up at a dead end I rang the owner who instructed me to carry on past the pub for another 2 miles! „The hotel is stunning and the grounds around it are incrdible. The promenade walk was out of this world. Very friendly staff and helpful. The pool is very clean. We had our cuckapoo with us and they were very loving towards him. Dogs are not allowed in the dinning room which wasnt an issue at all as we were allowed to stay on the bar side/dinning room. „Großes Zimmer, großes Bad. Bequeme Betten, Sitzmöglichkeiten. Das Zimmer schaute auf die Straße aber nachts war es sehr ruhig. Kostenloses Parken auf der Straße zwischen 18 bis 9 Uhr am nächsten Tag möglich. Kleines aber leckeres Frühstück. Der Ort sah etwas verlassen aus. Vor 4 Jahren war es etwas lebendiger habe ich die Erinnerung aber trotzdem die wichtigsten Geschäfte und Lokale waren da. Geraldine war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Alles in allem für die Durchfahrt zwischen Norden und Süden ...

„THE COUNTRY HOUSE IS SUPERB WITH SO MUCH CHARACTER AND GORGEOUS GARDENS. THE STAFF IS VERY FRIENDLY AND THE ROOM GOOD. IT WAS A VERY PLEASANT STAY. ONLY NEGATIVE IS THAT WE COULD NOT SIT AT AN EMPTY TABLE LOOKING AT THE VIEW FOR BREAKFAST, BECAUSE THE STAFF HAD ALREADY LAID THE TABLE FOR LUNCH. "The historic building is fabulous, the atmosphere great, it's the pole position in Windermere, great view on the lake. I wonder if it is necessary that during the summer season the building is under construction. With scaffoldings in front of the windows, some parts of the building beside the entrance in bad condition, and even a corridor we had to pass everyday was stuffed with furniture, cardboard boxes ... This is not the atmosphere for holidays. Due to repairs on some wires, the internet connection broke down every night. The location is great, but there's some work to do to bring it back to its standard. "
