This property is probably the most beautiful place we have ever stayed. Our hosts were very welcoming. Our room was very large and comfortable, with everything we could possibly want or need. We love animals and enjoyed being greeted by the dogs and visiting the horses, ducks and tortoise. The gardens were beautiful and peaceful. The ocean view was magnificent. I would love to stay here again.

My spouse and I had a wonderful stay at Hale Laule’a with terrific hosts Jennifer and Chad. Their resort is nothing short of extraordinary and we were incredibly grateful to be able to stay and experience it. We stayed in the one bedroom Banyan suite which was spacious and comfortable, eagerly looking forward to the provided breakfast on the lanai. Spectacular ocean points were a short walk down the road. We can’t wait to visit again!

We had such a nice time staying in our Hawaiian Celebration! We booked the Bantam Suite (which looks upon the incredible heritage banyan tree on the property), but when we arrived we were offered the Carriage House due to a cancellation – we took it, and it gave us a kitchen, a LOT of space, and ocean views (and lovely sunrises) right from the bed. The property is so clean, well-cared for, and with breathtaking views – we wandered, relaxing in the many lovely outdoor areas, and enjoying the dogs, horses, ducks, tortoise and other animals on the property... The hosts are so kind and interesting, we really enjoyed interacting with them, and they had SO many cool, fun, and fascinating suggestions for walks and activities nearby! Highly recommended!

The property was beautiful but honestly not as great as many rentals we have stayed at in the past. AC makes a high pitch noise when on and you can hear everything from inside of the house from the room. I heard someone shuffling with stuff at 6am and things being dropped in the kitchen. Leaving the property was tough as their gate was broken. We would spend 5 min closing the gate. This became an issue when it wouldn't close after repeatedly entering the code and the owners just watched. They however are very friendly.

Amazing 5-Star Property

Simply amazing! Chad and Jennifer’s property is located on a cliff with incredible views of the ocean and several gardens and sitting areas from which to have a cup of coffee or glass of wine and watch the surf. Sitting by the pool as Jennifer exercised her horse was a nice way to unwind. The apartment was comfortable and as advertised. The B&B-style breakfast was light and tasty with fresh mango from the property, homemade smoothies, and sticky rolls The property is just a few minutes from Hilo for a nice dining experience and a great locale for exploring hiking trails and natural wonders on the Big Island. Chad and Jennifer shared a wealth of info that made our experience all the better. Definitely recommend!

Unbelievably Serene

Chad and Jennifer have created an amazing property and were kind and gracious hosts. The views were spectacular and the immense gardens were peaceful and serene. The pool was comfortable even when it was cloudy and gazing at the stars from the heated spa was a perfect way to end the day. Would love to visit again soon.

Beautiful Property

Our stay at Ho'olaule'a at Hale Laule'a, Opihi Point, and the Hakalau Banyan Tree B&B Suite was such a joy! The trip kicked off with a fun tour of the gorgeous property, perfect for someone like me who loves soaking in nature. Chad and Jennifer, the owners, were so kind and down-to-earth, giving us great tips, like a quiet nearby hike that had jaw-dropping views we couldn’t stop talking about. The breakfasts each morning were fresh, tasty, and full of local vibes—exactly what we needed to fuel our days. Walking the gardenia-lined path to our suite felt like a little escape every time. The gated estate, with its three sweet guard dogs (who warm up once you say hi), made us feel totally safe and at ease. After long days hiking the east side of the island, we loved chilling and watching the horses, ducks, and this massive turtle just doing their thing. Chad’s quick lesson on their banana trees was such a cool, unexpected moment that stuck with us. We’re already dreaming of coming back for another stay!

This is a beautiful property in a great location. Furnishings are comfortable and the banyan tree is amazing. Unfortunately, we missed our original appointment for the safety tour because we got turned around and behind at Volcano national park and he didn’t get my message that we were running late because phone service wasn’t working. When the owner got ahold of me, he was upset and made that known. It felt very uncomfortable and inappropriate, and put a damper on our stay. This was unfortunate because it was our last two nights in Hawaii and we had splurged on this stay. I apologized for being late and for him not getting my message, but did not receive an apology for his treatment of me in return. In addition, the hot tub is only heated at night upon request, but my request was turned down because they were not going to be home to use the computer to operate it. These and a few other things caused us to never felt appreciated as guests. We still enjoyed the beautiful area, and especially going to nearby beach, but overall it wasn’t the experience we had hoped for and was a disappointment.

Beautiful oceanfront site. Chad and Jennifer are thoughtful, informative and welcoming. 20 minutes north of Hilo but worth the drive. Large comfortable suite , supplied with everything for a luxe stay. Lap pool, special gardens and gorgeous viewpoints. Light but yummy breakfast; perfect to start the day.I will book again and recommend friends for this special spot.

The words "totally awesome" are not even close to adequate to describe this property and the hosts! We were truly honored to be able to stay on this amazing property. Hearing of the vision, planning and hard work that transformed what was a "jungle" at the time of purchase into a place of beauty and peace allows you to appreciate it even more. The hosts were attentive to every need---and I do mean EVERY need. There are many interesting and beautiful places to see within easy driving distance; however, it took a lot of will power to even consider leaving this "little bit of heaven" even if only for a couple of hours. To be able to sit in a lounge chair to search for whales and to swim in the pool and enjoy the dark sky with the twinkling stars cannot be forgotten. We were so blessed to be able to stay in the beautiful Banyan Suite and enjoy delicious breakfasts and beautiful views on the Seahorse Lanai. Many, many thanks to Chad and Jennifer.

Oceanfront retreat

Our two day stay at Ho’olaule’a was fantastic! The property location overlooking the ocean was gorgeous and serene. Our suite was well appointed and had thoughtful amenities such as cold drinks, snacks and robes. Our hosts, Chad and Jennifer were very welcoming and friendly; we appreciated their hospitality and hope to stay again at our next trip to the Hilo area.
