Adorable two-bedroom, one-bath home in Hancock village, with sunroom and back deck overlooking the river.
(Although we are brand new on Vrbo, we’ve been hosting for years on other platforms, with excellent reviews.)
Just a few doors up from Hubbard's general store and the historic Old Hancock Hotel, this quaint village home is close to Sugarbush and Mad River Glen, the Middlebury Snowbowl, and Killington Mountains. Just a short drive to Rochester, the Mad River Valley, and Middlebury.
I have always wanted to have a house in the mountains. As a child, I went to school in Shimla, a beautiful city in the foothills of the Himalayan mountains, in northern India. There are, of course, many differences between Shimla and Vermont...but there are also many similarities. I've named the house Shimla, in honor of the town of my childhood. Having this home is a dream come true for me, and l am so happy to be able to share it with you.
If you are looking for seclusion, Shimla may not be it. We are located in the middle of a village -- albeit a very, very small and quiet village. But if you want to experience a quintessential Vermont village, and the ability to walk next door for a cup of VT coffee, a maple dessert, or a sandwich made with local ingredients, this is your place.
Shimla is just over 1,000 square feet, with a large bathroom, two cozy bedrooms, and an open floor plan. There is a queen bed in one bedroom, and full-over-full bunks in the second bedroom. There is also a sleeper sofa in the four-season sunroom that can function as a third sleeping space.
There is also a lovely back deck overlooking a peaceful river, and a spacious front porch with Adirondack chairs for watching the locals walk by (all 5 of them).
Shimla is great for kids. In summer, the river is easily accessible from the back yard, and usually low enough to safely enjoy the amazing swimming holes. Supervised, of course!
Shimla has high-speed internet access, a 50-inch television with Roku, bluetooth speaker for music, USB ports for charging phones, and is well equipped with linens, cooking and baking supplies, a dishwasher, microwave, and washer and dryer.
Thank you for staying with us. We hope your visit is wonderful.
