Bun Penny Apartment is on 2nd floor of a new block with lift. Gated access for one car. Gates are coded.
Beautifully furninshed, comfy bed and pillows, linen and towels etc very clean. The whole apartment is bright and sunny with everything you need - apart from a hair dryer! (I didn't pack one this time as most holiday homes have one or two).
Two side view balconies with seating, and you can see the sea.
Dislikes:
Building site to the side. On further investigation into the notes, this was mentioned but quite far down.
Indian restaurant also to the side. Warm evening = windows and doors open, but the smells drift in.
Both bathrooms have automatic sensors instead of switches so everytime you go in (even in the middle of the night) all the lights and the fan come on which run on for a while...
Herne Bay is mainly quite and clean, and there are some good places to eat. The Ship does good food, as does the little Italian a street or two away. We also had pancakes with lots of fruit for breakfast one day in the cafe on the corner. The are a couple of fab little micro pubs if you like them, particularly the Bouncing Barrel. Very friendly.
We got the bus into Whistable to meet friends for a lovely seafood meal at the Oyster House.
I would recommend but probably not go back ourselves.
NB: The Bun Penny was the pub that was originally on the site, named after Queen Victoria when she was young and had her hair in a bun. The money at the time all had this picture on the face i.e. the Bun Penny. We don't have a Bun Penny, but we do have a Bun Half Crown!
