Not impressed

The hotel is in a questionable area. The area did not seem safe at night. The view (not the ocean side) was extremely unsightly. Some neighboring buildings are full time rental apartments and the noise was awful. The alley was littered with debris and the garbage trucks go non-stop making too much noise. Nobody could sleep through all that.

Good bang for the buck

I needed a cheap hotel in Honolulu for one short nite after being bumped by American Air (AVOID that airline!). There are cheaper hotls but this has a great location: 2 blocks from Waikiki beach, 4 from the zoo. No oceanview. The hotel is older and could use some TLC. My AC unit was USELESS, good thing it wasn't very hot. The hot water, well, wasn't. Lukewarm, really. But the bed was comfy. No charge for a rollout cot for my daughter. If u r used to fancy places, this ain't for you. But a very good value.

Would stay there again just because of location

Good location, but not the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in. Annoyed with the extra charges for each phone call and coffee cartridges/

you get what you paid!!!!!

hotel is ok just to sleep, but not to stay all day on it. service theyre not very helpfull, but if your trying to save some bucks i think you should book it, not a fancy hotel at all!!!! good luck

Great hotel, great price

This hotel is perfect. It is clean, in a good area and the staff is helpful. Keep in mind that the price for this hotel is cheap. Therefore, don't expect fantastic ocean views, satin pillows, etc. If you are just needing a place to sleep after a day exploring the island, this is the hotel for you.

warning - one big mistake

I stayed at this hotel for one week.The staff was very unfriendly and seemed like whenever I'd asked for the room key I bothered them big time ..I'm not mentioning the long time I had to wait..!Plus the cleaning crew didn't clean my room at all,they just changed the towels.I'd complained several times,didn't help.I slept on a smelly bed ..I could smell a cigarette smell..I strongly don't recommend this hotel.

Great economy hotel

Not fancy, but the staff was very helpful. The room was fine and had a balcony. Only disappointment was they decided to replace the air conditioner in the middle of the day without giving me any notice. I had to be out of my room for a couple hours.

Great Get Away

If you're looking for a place to just relax than this hotel is it. I went there just to get away from it all for awhile and yet there was everything at your finger tips. Even though there is no swimmimng pool, it's still a great get away, with the beautiful beach of Waikiki just a quick walk away who needs a swimming pool.? I go there at least once every other month cause it's not only affordable but the PRIVACY is great.

Experience lacking good service.

Though this was considered a "budget" hotel, I was actually surprised that it was basically clean and well laid out. The room was clean and not as small as I thought it would be. There was a small lanai also. My issues are with the staff. They were not very helpful when I reported a problem to them involving the parking structures' automated system. In addition, I was not directed to the alternative parking area when I found that the one I parked in before was full. That led to, later that evening, my car being towed from a parking area nearby (another story). Then, upon checkout, I was threatened with a late checkout fee because I didn't deliver them the key 15 minutes after 12pm. When I asked to speak to the manager, and did speak to him, his tone and mannerisms were hostile and rude. In the end I did not pay the fee and was checked out. My experience left me happy with the room and basically pleased with the facilities, but extremely troubled with the customer service. It left me torn as to whether I would want to stay in the hotel again.

Its marginal

The Hotel is very much runned down..Although I did get a room that was refurnished and looked decent and was rather comfortable, I did walk by and saw other room were not as nice. It is located on a corner and can be very noisy at night. Basically, its an economy hotel and you get what you pay for. If you want something nicer, stay at a better known hotel. If you want something cheap and hopefully decent, then you have this option.

Fairly good

This hotel is fairly good. There was air conditioner, good queen bed, clean and neat. The only thing that happaned was to be awake at 4am for someone and the fire alarm that went on for a few minutes in the afternoon. But besides that it;s hawaii !!

You get what you pay for

This is an older hotel that could use a little updating. Our first room was the cause of damage for the unit below because of a water leak in the wall above the sink. The rooms are small, but who stays in the room when you are in Hawaii? Location was great. 5 min. walk to beach.

Small, parking sucks, roaches, unfriendly service, hair in my bed (and lots of it), no maid service. Its just a little bit better than sleeping homeless! I should have put up a tent instead of getting a room here!

Didn't expect the best, but expected better.

This hotel is a low "star" rating, so we did't expect the best. What we found was 10 compact size parking spaces under hotel and other parking was blocks away. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable, though room was very small. Hard to move around. Little room for baggage. Our room was on the fifth floor and the elevator was down for remodeling (according to sign, though no other sign of work being done)and staircase was small and enclosed with cement walls and steps. hard to handle luggage (no help from staff)and very hard on the feet, legs and knees. We checked out and into another hotel after a few days.

Not bad

I only stayed in this hotel one night, but I thought it was ok and it was cheap. It was a pretty short walk to the beach, but there was definitely no luxury involved here. Room was clean, no insects or anything like that.

Just need a place to crash

The rooms were small. Bugs abroad! Parking garage is horrible, I saw someone take out the front end, from the angle of the pavement. But if your just needing a place to crash, this may be the place for you. After-all, your in Hawaii to enjoy the activity and energy of the island, not sleep.

Bad choice even for those with simple desires

Having visited Hawaii each year for the last 10, I've never sought or needed luxury hotel accommodations - I spend the least amount of my time in my room. My only criteria is that the hotel be clean, in good condition, safe, and the staff courteous. The Aqua Kuhio Village was an extremely unpleasant surprise. Upon arriving, I purchased ammonia and personally cleaned the kitchen and bathroom, and wiped down everything else. Dishes and cookware that was available showed obvious signs of not being cleaned. The closet doors were hanging off their hinges. The King size bed was 2 twins pushed together. I felt uncomfortable being in a place so obviously unkempt. Highly NOT recommended for those who like myself, are not looking for 5-star accommodations. After this experience, I feel compelled to now look for at least 3-star accommodations to avoid even the possibility of going through this again. I never thought such poor conditions would exist in Waikiki.

We realized that it was a discounted room but: we recommended a king sized bed and our voucher said so.. the desk said they never got that info. the room was small, and it was an upgrade according to the desk. There was no room cleaning service-you could borrow a broom from the desk.. they charged 8$/day for parking, you were lucky to get a space. We had to ask for clean towels. It was very noisy and the initial clerk at the desk was very unfriendly and rude. Not a good representation of your services in our opinion.

Not Impressed

The Hotel room was very small with no room service or hosekeeping! There were cockroches in my hotel room and they crawled on me as I was sleeping! No remote control for the television and the beds were extremely small! I would not stay at this hotel the next time I visit Hawaii and I cannot recommend this hotel to anybody I know who will be traveling!
