We absolutely loved our stay here. The house felt warm and comforting, we walked in and felt like we were at home. We spent 3 days just relaxing in the cabin, mostly watching squirrels outside the on the patio. The jacuzzi was a nice extra to have! The beds are comfy, the living room couch was comfy. The heater kept us warm . The neighborhood is quiet and beautiful we took a few walks around the street. The view from the living room was perfect. The kitchen and bathroom had everything we needed. We drove into town (which is only about a 5 min drive) and went grocery shopping and had breakfast at Mama's Egg house which was delicious! I am glad we rented a 4 wheel drive vehicle as the post recommended. Our little car would have struggled up that driveway.

Relaxing time

Was worried about driveway based on some other reviews. It's a short steep drive, but a Kia Soul handled it no problem. Hot tub was a nice addition for relaxing.

A lot of money for a dirty & understocked cabin

My husband and I went to the cabin and they said you need four-wheel-drive to get up the driveway but that driveway is dangerous. I wouldn’t recommend ever going up that driveway when we entered the property we noticed and extensive amount of dust debris, dead bugs. There was no coffee, tea or sugar in the containers. I have breathing problems so I had to spend the majority of the time outside or in the back of the house where there was less dust I would not recommend this nor will we ever rebook at this location.

A sadly mismanaged property

It only has one bathroom. That's fine, it's what we expected. But when we got out of the hot tub to rinse the chemicals off our body, we discovered that the cold water knob in the shower was loose and non-functioning. This meant that to shower, we had to perfectly time a 15-second window before the water became scalding hot, making bathing impossible.Unfortunately we noticed this problem the evening we checked in, New Years Eve. All of the hardware stores on the mountain were closed for the next 48 hours. I raised the issue to the attention of the property manager, described the problem, and the property manager sent out a maintenance person the following day. There was nothing he could do. The tub needed a new faucet valve, and that would have to wait until the hardware store opened, after we checked out the following day.This made it impossible for us to bathe for our entire stay. We were upset. We asked to be moved to a different property, or for a full or at least partial refund so we could leave and check in at a hotel elsewhere, and our request was left unanswered until after dark. Their reply was to have the maintenance man to return and leave us a wrench so we could open the faucet valve ourselves to shower. They claimed ignorance to this problem previously existing, then we saw that someone had complained about this issue in a VRBO review one month prior to our stay. We have been offered no refund, or discount on future stays with this company. Avoid.

Our Honeymoon Getaway

My wife and I spent our honeymoon here and we absolutely loved it!!! Everything was so clean and the cabin was so cute and beautiful. The fireplace was definitely a beautiful thing to have during our romantic time. And the firewood delivery service was amazing. Thanks to the hosts for being so responsive during our stay and helping us with any questions we had they were so accommodating to us and we would definitely recommend this cabin to anybody looking to get away for a nice time... Super close to town and easy to find..

We are Seniors in our 70’s. It would have been nice to know that the home was on a hill with many steps from the parking area to the front door, with no hand rails and no lighting. The lamppost at the bottom of the many stairs was not working. On Thursday night we had a dinner reservation in town and we both fell off of the bottom steps into the dirt driveway. Also, the hot water heater only allows one short shower before going cold! Also the cold water knob for the tub/shower is loose and stripped.

Rustic and cozy

We stayed on a warm weekend in October, family of four with two young boys. We really appreciated the well stocked kitchen, comfy beds, comfortable couch, and great deck. Neighbors are very close. There are a few things that could use some updating and cleaning but overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property manager was a little bit difficult with form submission, but we got everything all taken care of in the end.

Nice Weekend Getaway

Rocky Raccoon is one of many properties managed by the same company. The ladies at the office are friendly and helpful. You do need to check in at their office in Idyllwild prior to heading to the cabin. We had a late check-in, but alerted them ahead of time and someone was there to help us and give us the keys. We stayed during a warm weekend. The cabin, like most in the area, has no air conditioning, but features heavy drapes, a high ceiling fan in the living room, and two mobile fans. The latter are loud, but make sleeping possible. A large, high window that remains uncovered allows heat into the living/kitchen area during the day. One bedroom is a loft, and heat rises, but there are windows behind the bed and the fans to cool it at night. The cabin suited our purposes. We did not utilize the outdoor hot tub nor the telescope provided, so I can’t comment on their condition, though it is nice that they were available. The cabin has a bit of an awkward layout, but works. The bathroom is on the ground floor; there are stairs at both entrances and obviously up to the loft. The wooden furniture was nice, but the dining chair cushions and couch need replacing—lumpy and stained. Lots of windows and a nice front deck, but a few windows are missing screens. The shower head needs fixing or replacing and the drain unclogged. The welcome folder was helpful and informative. Overall, a good experience.

Snowstorm in Idyllwild

We were so thankful this property had central heating and didn't need to rely on fireplace to heat. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals. The only negatives we experienced was that it took over 3 days to have a snow shovel delivered, even with frequent requesting. Also, the cable was not working so couldn't watch TV, so we just watched DVDs, which was OK. Very nice house!
