The property is excellent. We enjoyed our stay. We would love to return for another getaway. Thank you for the recommendations in Idyllwild. The cabin had everything that we needed. There was nothing lacking. I enjoyed the hot tub and sauna. All of the lights fire tables made it very alluring. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything needed for a vacation. The cabin is beautiful and the neighborhood and neighbors were very nice. We really appreciated all of the safety fences that you have for dogs. We would like to return soon.

Perfect birthday escape

All attending agreed this place was awesome. It’s flat out beautiful and one of the most homey and designed spaces we’ve ever rented. It felt like a true home rental and not an undercooked investment, from the amenities to the management. We loved cooking in the fully equipped kitchen after a day lounging in the tub and sauna. It was a real luxury experience. Super cozy in the winter and the outdoor spaces made us want to come back to take full advantage in the summer. Small note that the driveway can fit two midsize SUVs in the winter and our third car was parked at the office in town. Beautiful views, convenient drive to town, and comfortable spaces for hanging out with friends.

The boulder with the hanging fireplace was so fun. The kitchen definitely is made for a great chef. The bed in the master bedroom was so comfortable I didn’t want to leave. I usually do not repeat stays because it’s fun to see different places, but I would definitely stay here again! Thank you for sharing your home! Plus, the people at New Spirit Vacation Homes are extremely nice and accommodating and available.

Wrong house

The day of our trip we were notified the property we researched and booked was not available and we were being moved last minute to another location. Bags were packed and we were about to leave. We had no real choice but to accept the location swap. It was not as nice as the place we selected. We were given the dome which is the property displayed on their advertisement. While nice, it was not my choice and it messed with me mentally during my stay. I wish they had checked the property for issues the day before our arrival to give us time to cancel our plans or ask for different options.

Pictures don’t do it justice

This house is everything its advertised as and more! Outside: There are more sitting areas than expected. One of the bedrooms (not the master) has a balcony with a swinging chair, cushioned benches, and a gate to fully enclose it in for dogs/small kids. The main deck has access via a door off of the kitchen and main door. There are two firepits, swinging chairs, multiple seating options, and of course the hot tub and spa. There is a very clean, large propane grill here as well and a TV above the kitchen door. There are gates on both entrances to this area as well. They are not as secure as a wooden gate so if your pet is determined to get out they can slide under it. There is an additional third seating area, with another grill and fire pit. Inside: IMMACULATE! All of the beds were comfortable, and the bedding was nice quality (all UGG) in great condition. The kitchen was extremely well stocked with appliances and everything you would need to cook a meal. The house is so well thought out with lighting options, speakers, rainfall shower features, that you feel right at home!The customer service is exceptional. I had issues with the indoor fireplace and outside fire pit so had to call after hours. I honestly expected it to go straight to a voicemail, but an extremely knowledgeable lady answered and was able to walk me through “how to use” the different features. Note: Driveway is extremely steep and there are roughly 15 stairs up to the property.

Five stars across-the-board!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were originally disappointed when our reservation at Between Two Pines was canceled and we were upgraded to Boulder Bungalow. But after a few hours after settling in and reading the Boulder Bungalow home binder, we really began to appreciate the cabin. You can really tell that the owner builder was an Emmy award-winning designer. Attention to detail everywhere is testament to that award. Small things everywhere like the custom hand railing into the Jacuzzi, bottle openers where ever needed, pretty much whatever you needed was right there where you needed it and then some. We took advantage and made use of all the amenities from the hammock to all the other sitting areas to enjoy all the great views of this beautiful Pine Cove area of Idyllwild. The Cabin is very well-maintained and stocked. We found everything we needed, enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and found everything we needed to prepare our meals. My only question to the executive chef is why an electric cooktop? We recommend Boulder Bungalow to anyone and would gladly return.

The house is nice overall, very cold. There was winds to where the house was shaking and even had a window break from it, the house auto locked us in which we found out when we were trying to check our cars due to the wind. I called and texted the manager over 5 times got through to no one until later into the next day via email. They sent someone to put cardboard over the window the next day without even responding to me. The ambiance lights didn’t turn on our second night at all, the smart mirror in the master doesn’t work. Heater only works in certain places in house. Overall the communication was poor and I had wished that damaging weather and winds where I felt unsafe I could get a response from someone. We were going to go home the next day and cut our trip early but realized that they weren’t going to listen or accommodate for our uneasy feelings with how the house responded to weather.

Freezing

I would give the stay a 5 in warmer months but: The management company was great - immediately responsive for the first night and next day. Then we realized the heat system could NOT adequately heat the space. It was really cold in there. seriously uncomfortably so. The fireplace sent so much cold air into the room it blew ashes everywhere - even with the flue closed. The downdraft was so strong that a flame couldn't stay lit for long (after I bought 3 night's worth of wood) I sent texts to the same number we corresponded with the first night - no response. The temperature was 45 degrees in the mornings and the warmest it EVER got was 52. The shower in the Master Bath was fully clogged. We all had to use the small bathroom. No response from management. We loved the house and we loved Idyllwild, but the freezing atmosphere really ruined everything. Sad to say. They finally called me at departure time and said they never got the texts. My phone shows them delivered to the correct number. I liked the people but something went wrong. That house SHOULD NOT be rented out in winter months unless the heating system is made adequate.

We cooked Thanksgiving in the dreamy chef's kitchen, which had every last tool and gadget we needed. And plenty we didn't! Such fun. The home was beautiful, spotless, and elegantly appointed. The outdoor space was heaven. And the technology in the house was really fun to play with too. We were two adults, three kids, and two dogs and it was the perfect amount of space. We'll be back!

Not a great stay

Unfortunately while we were there the toilets backed up to the point of not being fixable and we had no working heating. the management was very responsive and helpful in getting us into another one of their properties. There is not a lot of attention to details in both properties run by New Spirit unfortunately. The tissue and hand lotion containers had not been refilled. The sheets in the other property we were moved to had hairs in it.

Stunning five stars!

STUNNING!!!!!! If one could dream of staying in your own totally private alpine five star resort, this is it! Boulder bungalow exceeded all our expectations! (if you can call it that because it is very very big for a "bungalow"!) Total peaceful beautiful getaway, with ALL the amenities you would find in the finest modern resorts, and so many other unique attentive special touches... too many to describe. Super modern set up in a most beautiful tasteful quaint comfortable yet very roomy setting. Imagine "rustic feeling" without any of the "rustic" discomforts, quite the opposite! The home has a beautiful unique hanging real wood fireplace, an amazing integrated mountain rock as part of the living room wall, a fully equipped kitchen with all the amenities one needs, even a set of basic spices and condiments, a lovely outdoor living space with BBQ and fireplace, and the most wonderful unobstructed mountain view. WOW! We flew from overseas to safely spend thanksgiving with our adult children who live in California and whom we had not seen for a year. It was so perfect and so worth it! I hope we can return next time we travel to California!

Don’t rent on the hottest day of the year.

Temperatures never dropped below 85 inside the entire time during our stay. They should be warning people or not renting it during really hot periods. In addition we had problems with the oven not shutting off and the fire pit not working. Aside from this, the place was clean and well-appointed.
