„We had the private villa with the balcony . The place it self is nice with an ocean view. The bar is only open until 9 which is a downer but the drinks are reasonable priced. It is a 5 minute walk from the airport so no need for a taxi to get to and from which I liked. Right by the beach which was nice. You can tell the property is older but it is nice and quiet. They have cats and roosters on the property. Seem like the island is known for that, they don’t bother anyone tho. “

„I loved staying here. I would for sure stay again. The view is amazing, loved the stray cats and dogs here and all over the island. Like everyone else says, rent a car or get a taxi, im from Colorado but the hills matched with humidity are no joke. We rented a car and driving on the left side is not as hard as they say. The last 2 days of the stay it rained and we had no problem staying in, hanging out by the pool and bar despite the rain. Bluebeards is perfect, a great place to stay and travel ...

„What a beautiful place to stay on St. John, a great location with outstanding views. The restaurant was wonderful, we had two outstanding dinners and enjoyed after dinner drinks at the bar each evening. Staff was outstanding, friendly and helpful! We are planning to return in 2027!“

My only piece of feedback would be to add some lounge chairs near the pool. But next time I come back to St Thomas there is no doubt I’m staying at Hotel 1829! “

The simplicity might be a little less than what some want, but the stay met every one of our needs. The environment was beautiful and the beach was our favorite on the island! The small pool was so nice to have after a hot walk back from town. Nice to have complimentary rum punch happy hour. Appreciated the free use of beach chairs, snorkel equipment, floaties ! Only thing that could be improved on was the breakfast. Would have loved some yogurt and fruit!“
