« My STRONG advice is to pay extra for a superior room. I stayed the economy double and it was not nice. Do not stay in 113, we had roaches in our room. I also stayed in 43 (I think) no roaches. I will upload a picture of our view from 113. Looked at a wall with peeling paint. Pros of hotel: - Upper level rooms look nice (Superior rooms) - Included Breakfast is cooked to order, nice and fast! - Staff is nice - Close to town. You can walk to the ferry terminal. save $20 each in cab fare...

« The room was very clean and had great amenities. The staff were incredibly friendly. The space is beautiful and charming. Bartender and Restaurant staff were exceptional and the food was amazing. My only piece of feedback would be to add some lounge chairs near the pool. But next time I come back to St Thomas there is no doubt I’m staying at Hotel 1829! »

« I ended up in the same room I was in for Christmas. It was very clean and well stocked with towels and shampoos. Nice big screen tv and cold fridge and freezer. The grounds are older, but well kept up. It's a struggle keeping afloat on the islands and this resort is no different. The staff was excellent and very helpful. I know they would appreciate your support! I've lived on St. John for over 30 years so I know how hard it is to turn a profit here! »

« Power went out often on the island, a generator is needed at this property. Out flight was cancelled and we lost a day. I was told we would get credit for that but haven’t received confirmation of that yet. Location is okay, taxi service is a few blocks away, restaurants close. Not sure if I’d return or recommend at this time, still waiting on owner to honor his verbal agreement. But no matter what, a generator is desperately needed to protect a quality experience. »
