Our house is a good option for winter weekends skiing Greek Peak. However, there is no property manager. It is just me, Carolyn, homeowner and caretaker :).

We also love the gorgeous lake views. Thank you for letting future guests know. I have mixed feelings about providing shampoo and I am not quite there yet. If we were to provide tamper-proof shampoo mounted on the wall our house would be more like a hotel and less like a home. We have been renting short-term for so long, at the beginning guests had no expectations other than extra bedrooms and kitchen (vs staying at a hotel). Now expectations have morphed to a half-house half-hotel experience. At the same time, I recognize that it would be fairly simple to provide and a big help to travelers. So, while I am still thinking about this, future guests, please pack your favorite coffee and shampoo.

We just redid the deck and stairs to the lake and so far all of our guests have loved the house. We love it, too and we are so glad we have completed this upgrade.

We love meeting expectations so having a guest say that our property was just as described is so rewarding. Megan is correct that the sunrise over the lake is really really special. After this review, I took apart the dishwasher and cleaned the filters etc so it is working well now. We do try to be very responsive so thank you for appreciating our efforts.

We are always so happy when folks love our house. The steps from the lower driveway are on a gentle slope until a run of 5 near the front door. Not too bad for the west shore of Cayuga Lake. Winter tenants must also walk from the upper parking to the lower parking. Please see pictures in the listing. BTW, these steps do have lights, I will check the timer for winter lighting (I suspect its still on summer, but I can fix that easily).

We are so happy that you found the house lovely. I very much appreciate the comments about clean up because I will clarify expectations for future guests. At check out, guests take out the garbage and start the dishwasher and the laundry. We do the cleaning: vacuuming, mopping, bathrooms, kitchen, etc. The cleaning fee goes entirely to the cleaning staff who work hard and are often complemented by guests at check in for doing a great job.

Our house is well located for a week exploring the finger lakes. The view is incredible. Where we are located in the town of Ithaca, near downtown, the west shore of Cayuga Lake is very steep. While the walk from the parking to the house is not bad, there are many steps down to the water. Please see the picture.

Thank you for this 5 star review. The west shore of Cayuga Lake is steep. Almost all of the houses are either on a steep slope or down a steep slope. Our property is very well situated such that the driveway is not too too steep and while there are steps from the lower parking to the house it is not a difficult walk. On the other hand, the lake itself is a few flights down. We are sorry but all guests must be able-bodied.

We appreciate this review very much because our fundamental renting goal is to meet expectations. We hope you find the property as described with all pluses and minuses fully explained. Then, if the view wows you, all will be well.

Our house IS nice and does have spacious rooms. The west shore of Cayuga Lake is pretty steep everywhere near Ithaca. Winter tenants will often have to park in our upper parking. We have a brand new large and sturdy stair run from the upper parking to the lower parking. Once you get to the lower parking, there are stairs to the house but they are on a path rather than a staircase. Summer tenants will need to use the stairs to get down to the lake as well.

Return guests are our favorite and we hope you become one, Deb. Like Deb, guests find our location to be beautiful and convenient.

Fortunately, the fridge problem was easy to solve once we got a chance to come in and look at it. We are sorry that Alexander and his family encountered a problem. There are many benefits from renting a house rather than staying in a hotel, but there are also sometimes maintenance issues that need to be addressed. Our goal is to be as responsive as possible.

Wonderful to hear that you will be returning next summer (return guests are our favorite). Thank you for pointing out the advantages of our house: 1) it is right on the lake; 2) you can kayak and canoe and swim right off the dock; and yet 3) it is close to downtown and downtown amenities. It is disappointing to learn that these guests did not enjoy their stay. There are aspects of this review--the worst I remember getting--that are true and aspects that are unfair, in particular the personal attack on me. I had a conversation by phone with the guest and I told them that the nearest boat launch is one mile away in Allen Treman Marina located in Cass Park. This is 100% correct. Did the guest think I meant Robert Treman State Park? I don't know but I did give them the correct location. Second, our listing is very specific that you must be able-bodied. The west shore of Cayuga Lake is very steep so even though the lower driveway takes you close to the house, it is not appropriate for someone with walking disabilities and should not be booked by someone recovering from lung cancer surgery. We wish it were otherwise. Next, while it is true that our house does not have a yard we do not advertise that our house has a yard, we do not show a yard in any of the pictures. I wish our house had a yard but on the west shore of Cayuga Lake there are almost no properties with a yard. That is the trade-off if you want to be close to town. Cayuga Lake is a lake and grasses do grow. This was a hot and wet summer so I imagine the plants were very happy. My guess if that the week of this stay was less stormy and less rainy these guests would have enjoyed their stay a little more. This review is correct that the steps are uneven. I had a contractor scheduled for April who never showed (kept my deposit). I appreciate this reminder that I need to find someone else ASAP. We have been renting for a very long time and key to a good stay is our meeting your expectations.
