There are some strong pros and some strong cons to this property. First, location, location, location! It has an amazing direct ocean view from the balcony, and the exterior amenities (pool, spa, picnic/bbq area) are lovely and well-maintained. Second, it's easy walking distance from downtown, we walked to Huggo's and Broke Da Mouth in 10-15 minutes. The road is fairly busy, but it's Hawaii, so no one's really going fast. Third, there is an AWESOME coffee shop right downstairs, which completely fulfilled all my desires for hot Kona coffee to be brought to me (by husband who can't seem to operate a coffee maker) and to not cook breakfast on vacation. Excellent croissant breakfast sandwiches, coffee cake, French Toast sticks, smoothies...we tried just about everything on the menu. My favorite was the Papaya-Mint smoothie, but if the downside of being in a condo for you is that you do not have a hotel restaurant right there and you have to cook, this location is a great solution. Less expensive and much quicker than a sit-down breakfast, and they open at 6:30am, in case you have a 7am date at the harbor for a snorkel tour.
All of those pros have to do with things outside the condo. Inside the condo, it's like 1992 called and asked for it's condo back. Other than a lovely Koa wood bar top that you mustn't set anything on, the kitchen is completely average, the carpet is cream colored and shows everything, the bathrooms are small and dated (the hall bath vanity is actually big enough to set things on, but the shower is too small to shower in, so shower in the master and do your face in the hall bath.) There is no headboard in the master, so when you sit up in bed you lean against this painting, and there's no good place to put the suitcase except inside the dark closet. The sides of the couch are so high you can't reach the end tables for your drink. There are no conveniently located outlets, so there was quite a tug of war for charging devices. There are just a number of things that are incredibly awkward. However, there were towels and beach chairs, and we had an ocean view with a pool for a great price, so overall I think it's a decent value as long as you know what you're getting. The management service will send all kinds of welcoming messages, but don't ask for anything, you won't get it. If I see another listing with this management company on future vacations, I will actively avoid it.
