The Neighborhood:

Kalama Beach Park and The Cove make this area especially good for active beach days. The Cove is known for surf lessons and paddleboarding, while Kalama Park has a long shoreline path, lawns, tennis, volleyball, and plenty of sunset sky. South Kihei Road runs just behind it with coffee, casual restaurants, and local shops. The Kamaole Beach Parks are a short drive south when you want a different beach for swimming or snorkeling. For families, it means less time coordinating the day and more time actually in the water.



Getting Around:

Kahului Airport is about 20 to 30 minutes away, an easy drive down Maui's sunny south shore. A rental car is recommended to make the most of Kihei's many beaches, shops, and restaurants spread along the coast. Some stretches near South Kihei Road are walkable to dining and shopping, while beaches are often just minutes away. Parking is typically available on site, in lots, or along nearby streets.
