Fun trip- Great location

Propery and location was just what we were looking for. Saw turtles in the ocean right outside of our door every afternoon. The condo was very comfortable for the four of us. Would definitely stay here again.

Million dollar view, unit not so much

Unit needs major rehab. Management was able to discount stay based on unit issues. Same issues noted in other’s reviews from prior years. Would verify laundry, furnishings issues were corrected before booking.

Just book it!

My family and I had an amazing stay at Kahana Sunset A6. Turtles and whales right outside, just steps away. Great location on the Northwest side of Maui. Loved having beach access and a beautiful pool on site. We will be back!

Wonderful

I was worried about booking this unit based on reviews but found the unit to be in good condition. It does need some TLC and a new coat of paint otherwise we booked for the oceanfront view. We slept with the windows open every night listening to the ocean. Our kids enjoyed the heated pool and the beach was great to have. The bay isn’t as protected as some other bays so it does get wavy. But overall we would book this unit again. We had friends that had a much newer unit at Kapalua that said they would stay in our place anytime! 3 bathrooms and two showers was very nice! AC was exceptional as well!

Close to Kapalua where we were volunteering in the Sentry. Been coming to Kahana Sunset for 50 years, sad that they are losing the beach, but condos are still great and never dissapoint.

Great location, very clean, needs some maintnenace

Overall the property was good. Great location, great view. Kitchen was great and well stocked. Everything was very clean. Overall could use some maintenance. For instance, light bulbs burnt out, spackle on walls that should be painted, bi-fold closet doors out of their tracks. Most concerning was the outlet that kept throwing sparks in the master bedroom. But we very much enjoyed our trip and stay!

Kahana Sunsets Unit A6

Location can’t be beat. Place was clean but very dated. Needs serious upgrades to the bathrooms. Only real complaint was the doors on the entrances. One of the handles on the screen slider to the 1st floor lanai was on the floor when we arrived. No big deal but should be fixed. Also, one of the glass slats on the rear entrance fell off and smashed on the floor with normal use. This must be a common thing as there were spares in a drawer. Don’t let the above keep you from staying here. Place was great and we would stay here again.

The condo and grounds were not well kept

The grounds were not well kept. We had last been ar Kahana Sunset in 2009 and it was in worse shape now than it was back then. The second area for bbqs were completely closed off due to a sink hole. We can understand the importance due to safety as to why it was closed off. However, being the busiest time of stay (Christmas) the resort should have come up with an alternative for clients as it left only 3 working (and i use that term loosely as they did not cook well at all) BBQs to use for the entire resort. There were lineups every night for up to 45 minutes just to cook your dinners. Our condo A6 was clean but run down. The air conditioner was not working. We were not advised before attending either. Instead, we were left a note to say we had a portable unit in the master bedroom... that did not cool down the entire condo or our kid's room where it was needed most. We called for maintenance to fix the ac unit but were given a SECOND portable unit for the ground floor a day later. This again did not solve the issue for our kids room. I turned the breaker off and on for the main unit and it would actually turn on for a few hours and then trip. I called to explain and have someone attend to fix... no result. This was extremely disappointing. The washer and dryer were not working properly either. The washer would make a lot of noise and leave the clothes smelling stale. The dryer would take over 4 different cycles to dry the clothes as well. The owner needs to put some care into their unit as it seems like it is a hands off-dont care situation. The master bedroom had limited outlets to the point that the owner used a power bar for the tv... and was plugged into a plug that was controlling the light switch. Comical. Again it felt like there was zero care put into the unit. The bathrooms are out of date and the master shower was dirty etc. For the amount of money we spent to be back where we were engaged 13 years ago it was extremly upsetting. We will not be back again and will be passing on the information to family and friends to avoid Kahana Sunset unless it has some time and money invested into it.

Great location, Good complex, Awesome view, OK amenities

The View from the unit is wonderful and there is plenty of parking and easy access to the pools and BBQ areas. The unit is clean and comfortable with plenty of room. Be ready for Stairs. A few minor hiccups upon arrival (missing parking pass, ice maker not working temporarily), and one major issue with the sunshade on the back patio being broken. This limited our ability to enoy the patio and view during the afternoons...a bit disappointing.

This location was perfect for our family vacation to Maui. Having access to the beach and snorkeling, and watching the turtles was is the highlight of the trip. The unit is a little dated, but plenty of room and a few updated appliances. Would definitely stay there again.

Loved it! Stayed here before. Condo is in a great spot for views and sunsets. Property was clean and well kept. The grounds crew were friendly and helpful. Went with some friends who were first timers and they loved it. They are already looking into coming back with their kids, and so are we!!!

What a view!

We just love the intimate, quiet setting of Kahana Sunset, and it can’t get any better with this ocean front unit! The first thing I noticed was how welcoming and clean it felt. You just can’t avoid roaches in Hawaii, but somehow they have in this unit! It’s a perfect space for 1-2 families. There is a lawn out front for your little ones to roam, and a stair access down to the beach. Turtles swimming in the cove are just 30 feet from the patio. Kahana Sunset has a homey feel, and offers a kiddie pool, deeper pool, BBQs and it’s own beautiful private beach. Of note, unit does not come with spices or basic cooking goods (noted to be intentional for safety practices) Would be nice if there were coffee filters.
