Belinda and siblings were a great group. We enjoyed them as guests, even allowing some of them in before the official "move in" time so they wouldn't have to sit aimlessly somewhere else. My wife and I live right next to Acorn Lodge and take great pride in keeping the grounds trimmed and the interior clean and spotless. We have a great cleaning crew who knows every nook and corner in the lodge to keep it clean. Therefore we were surprised and horrified to find that Belinda made a comment about the kitchen "not being as clean as expected" and "limited cookware." We called Belinda immediately to find out what the problem was. It turned out that she found "a few small ants on the counter," and some crumbs in a drawer." We immediately addressed the "ants" situation by calling the exterminator, who explained to us that ants had all just now come out of the ground because of all the heavy rains we'd had, and this is why we'd never had ants before. He exterminated them and put ant protection all around the house. As for "crumbs in a drawer," we couldn't find any. The cleaning crew didn't know anything about it either, because they had just gone through the place making it clean as possible, including the kitchen drawers, for our next guests. We could only guess that someone tilted a toaster while a drawer was open. As for "limited cookware," there is a whole tall cabinet of cookware right next to the refrigerator that apparently no one had looked at. When we phoned Belinda she told us she had no idea that her review was going to be published: she meant it only for us, which we appreciate. Belinda actually tried to get Vrbo to remove this review (because it was only meant for us) but they apparently don't do that. So there were no dirty knives or forks, floors or counter tops, waste receptacles, or anything else of the like. There were plenty of pots & pans, and Acorn Lodge is still consistently rated among the top places in Michigan. If anyone has any questions feel free to contact me. Bob Milne Acorn Lodge
