Very nice property. Secluded location, but close enough for easy access to Lead. As indicated in the property description, there is no air conditioning. Almost all of the year, this isnât an issue since it typically cools off at night. However, on days where it gets into the mid 90âs or warmer (we experienced one day like this), it may not cool off very quickly inside. A minor inconvenience overall, as this is a great property. However, it is something to consider.
My husband and I stayed her with my parents and our kids, and it appealed to all ages! We loved the setting and the porch. We used it as a base for the sights in the area, and it was a great place to come home to.
Cabin and location couldn't have been better! There's a stream that runs along the bottom of the property, as well as lots of wildlife. The moon and stars looked incredible from the firepit and porch. Town of Lead and Deadwood are in close proximity, which is very convenient for groceries and fun. Would definitely recommend and stay again!
This was the perfect place to stay! What a beautiful cabin! We loved the private and secluded setting in the Black Hills. You can hear the creek from the cabin which is such a relaxing sound. Deer were roaming around every morning and evening. The cabin had everything we needed! Our kids loved staying in the loft. My favorite was the jacuzzi tub after our busy days of sight seeing! We traveled all over the Black Hills and thought this cabin was at a great location for all the places we visited. Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Hot Springs, Cascade Falls, Deadwood, Cluster State Park, Devils Tower and Spearfish Canyon Scenic Scenic Byway. This is the perfect place to stay! There is absolutely nothing negative to say about this property! Thank you for sharing your beautiful place with us!
We stayed for three nights in this beautiful cabin. Itâs in a remote and quiet location. The creek runs past the cabin and itâs so soothing to sit on the deck and listen to the creek flow. There is a lot of stairs in the cabin.
Pros: relaxing and calm location, beautiful cabin, fire pit, two bedrooms and two beds in loft, big porch
Cons: lots of stairs that got to be a little slick, need 4 wheel drive vehicle if thereâs a lot of rain/snow, parking got to be tight with three vehicles
The listing is exactly what they said it was. It was very clean and cute. The best thing was they had condiments and other staples that a lot of VRBO's just throw out. That was awesome. The property manager was great to deal with when we had to cut our stay short. We all had a great time!
We had a wonderful stay. This was a good home base to float between the Deadwood and Custer areas. The house was very well maintained and came with all the necessary items, like dishes, extra linens, washer/dryer, a grill etc. The house was very clean with the exception of the bathtub, which we ended up scrubbing down for our young son to use. The beds weren't the most comfortable, but we are also used to sleeping on a sleep number mattress. Plenty of outdoor seating and amazing views, small running stream to listen to and a sky full of stars in the evening. Checkin was easy and great communication with the owner. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in the area.
We enjoyed the location and property. However, the bedding smelled really badly of body odor and when we contacted the manager we were told âto throw the pillows into the dryerâ. These pillows were beyond âthrow them in the dryerâ. We bought our own pillows and pillow covers.
It was a beautiful cabin, right down rhe hill from Terry Peak ski resort. We stayed for the Total Archery Challenge and it was super handy. Good clean cabin, sheets and towels! All the aminneties you could need for your stay. Loved the sound of the flowing creek below the cabin!
It was a beautiful cabin with wildlife right outside the door. Quiet little country neighborhood so you didn't feel totally alone in a new place. Beds were comfy ( I still need to ask where they got their sheets, they were the best!) The dumpster was a little ways away but is understandable to keep the wildlife out.
We enjoyed our stay. The sound of the stream and the smells of the Black Hills were amazing. We came to relax and just enjoy the peacefulness, and we got exactly that.
Excellent in location and amenities. Gals felt it could have used a dishwasher! Also, positioning of ceiling fan in living area was a safety hazard when running, as one of men in our 4 looked over the railing and was cracked in the head. Heâs ok, but quite a cut. WiFi signal was almost nonexistent. But, we loved the place and would return.
When you walked in, it has a calming relaxing atmosphere. It didn't feel as if you were walking into somebody's house, it felt like it was meant for you. The location was pretty good. The creek across the road was so peaceful. We slept with the door open upstairs, and listened to the water running all night. It sounded as if it was a light rain. So if you are looking for a large gathering, eight people can sleep comfortable. If steps are not your thing, you might struggle a little bit with this cabin. There are steps going up to the house. They have a queen bed on the main floor. If you didnt want to sleep upstairs. They also have steps going down stairs to the garage. I went before my knee surgery, so I struggled just a little bit. Don't take the fastest route on your GPS, because it'll take you down a low-maintenance road. The neighbors were a little bit too close for me. Starbucks in Deadwood, is a good place for Wi-Fi for work. And if you're looking for a good steak, we found Legend Steakhouse in Deadwood. Get there before 7 p.m. or you will have to wait.
The property was great. We loved the house and the layout of the bed rooms and living space.
There is one thing that WAZE users need to know about the location of this cabin. DO NOT use WAZE to get there!!!!! WAZE took us on a road that is not maintained by the County. The road is so terrible, treacherous and terrifying that it should only be driven by 4x4's. We weren't in a 4x4, but we made it somehow. If you want an adventure, plug the address into WAZE and give it a whirl.
Once we made it to the cabin we enjoyed the location, amenities and quiet setting. There were deer outside every day. The kitchen was stocked with the essentials. My only criticism is that one of the two full baths is in the basement with no bedrooms or living spaces on that floor.
The cabin is about one hour from Mt Rushmore, Custer and Crazy Horse. It's about 15 minutes from Deadwood.
We enjoyed our stay and will never forget the incredibly crazy road that WAZE took us down.
We enjoyed staying at this property for our winter snowmobile getaway! The cabin is located in a very quiet valley in which you can hear the snowflakes hit the ground! It is stocked well with all the necessities you will need for your stay...with some added bonus items to boot! The real wood fireplace adds warmth to the stay. You will need to have a 4wd vehicle to navigate the driveway if pulling a trailer in the wintertime. We did have to trailer to Recreational Springs each day due to the Mickelson Trail being closed to snowmobiles through Englewood in the winter, but being only about 2-3 miles away it really wasn't a big deal as they have fuel there to gas up for your day of riding! We look forward to staying here again on our next visit to the Black Hills!!
For the amount of money per night to rent this cabin it should be a 4 star. We were very disappointed.
1. Pollen was not cleaned off the deck before arrival--cleaning service said 'it will just be back!' It should have at least been cleaned upon arrive because we had to clean it to use the property. The grill was covered also with pollen and we had to clean it before we could use it.
2. Furniture and floor could have used a better dusting also which I did while we were there.
3. Bed in downstairs bedroom needs to be replaced. It was extremely uncomfortable.
4. Motorized toys in the basement leave a horrible odor of gas/oil through the house. This should be noted in the summary of rental.
5. Cooking utensils and condiments were good.
6. Satellite TV works great.
