Big Fern | Haustierfreundliche Hütte nahe Frio & Garner

Big Fern Cabin sits on 63 acres of open Hill Country outside Leakey, private and very quiet. Garner State Park and Lost Maples are both within an easy drive.



The cabin has two levels: a king bedroom upstairs with a full bath, and a living area, kitchen and half bath downstairs, with a sleeper futon for a third and fourth guest. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a drip coffee maker and coffee provided. Central air and heat keep it comfortable year-round. Guests often comment on the decor and how much character the place has.



The deck is built around the oaks, with several seating areas, a picnic table, lounge chairs and a gas grill. Bird feeders bring a steady stream of visitors, and much of the 63 acres is open to walk, with trail-ready terrain and plenty of wildlife. The driveway up to the cabin is steep, so motorcycles are not allowed here; come by car or truck.



Early check-in may be available on request. Every stay includes the Texas Hill Country Travel App, a local guide for exploring the area.



WHY WE LIKE IT

Big Fern is one of a kind, and it is properly dark at night: on a clear evening the stars come all the way down to the hills. It is a good base for hiking, on the property or nearby, and Garner State Park is close for a day on the Frio.

Motorcycles are not allowed at this property because the driveway is too steep.
