I wanted a place secluded and serene enough for me, while clean and comfortable enough for my wife. This place was perfect. It felt like they spared no expense and overlooked no detail to make this a great getaway spot. There are so many features worth highlighting: from the writing desk in the loft (where I saw deer and turkey through the woods) to the rock cave water fall shower downstairs. My favorite part was the main level deck, perched among the treetops with a view of the distant tree line across the valley where the lake sits. This place is truly a treasure. Just a few clarifying caveats: (1) The spiral staircase was archetectually impressive and super fun to ascend and descend to each level, but someone with unsure footing/above average size might find it challenging. (2) kayaks: if you are able to borrow the host’s kayaks, you’ll need a way to transport them. It was hard to tell from the photo gallery, but the cabin sits on a hill above the lake level, and the lake access is half a mile down the road. Not a big deal, but just be aware that you can't simply walk them out the back door and be on the lake. (3) I might soften the "4WD/AWD recommended”–we were in our minivan and made it along the short gravel road hills and turns just fine, though a smaller/lower clearance car might feel more nervous. (4) We did not have cell phone coverage, but the wifi onsite enabled us to do what we needed. (5) I learned that the VRBO contact host link wasn’t working, so if you were wanting to reach out to the host, do so via Evolve. Once we made the reservation, the host was very responsive, attentive, gracious, and helpful.
