We saw the pictures online, but when we drove up the hill into the woods and saw the cabin it took our breath away. We walked in and felt like it was made just for us. It was clean, welcoming, and so well decorated. The little touches made it feel inviting. The theme throughout was trees and woods, just like the surroundings. The Sweet Sage Retreat is situated on acres of land and is so quiet. The upstairs bedroom has a queen bed and windows with views. We choose the downstairs king bed because with the lights out, it is silent and as dark as you need. My wife is ultra sensitive to light and sound and this was a sanctuary for her. This 5 day 4 night stay was our first vacation with just the 2 of us (70 years old, married 47 years) for over 10 years. My wife doesn't travel well, but we recently bought an Outback it has allowed us to be comfortable, so this is our first trip were she has felt decent. She enjoyed just being in the living room on the top floor with the great views. We were a 20 minute ride to Logan for shopping and meals out. We were less than 15 minutes to Ash Cave and Cedar Falls and a little further to Old Man's Cave. My wife was able to go on two outings of hiking. I am a birder and had my binoculars wherever we went. From the cabin's deck and walking down the drive I was able to identify over 25 species of birds. I gave the owner a list of what I found.
