Experience the Huber Family Farms in Starlight, Indiana
One of Southern Indiana's most treasured traditions is a visit to the Huber family farms in the beautiful rolling hills of Starlight.
The Huber family's farming heritage dates to 1843, when Simon Huber emigrated from Germany and settled in Southern Indiana. What began as an approximately 80-acre farm has grown over generations into an extraordinary agricultural destination spanning more than 700 acres.
Today, visitors can experience two distinctive Huber family destinations, each offering its own attractions.
Huber's Orchard, Winery & Vineyards
Spend an unforgettable afternoon exploring the orchards, vineyards, farm market, and family attractions.
Depending on the season, guests can pick fresh strawberries, blueberries, peaches, apples, pumpkins, and other farm-grown produce.
Visit the farm market for fresh baked goods, preserves, apple cider, and seasonal specialties. Stop by the ice cream shop for a sweet treat, or enjoy lunch at the Starlight Café.
Families with children can explore the seasonal Family Farm Park, featuring playgrounds, pedal karts, slides, farm rides, and other outdoor adventures.
Adults can enjoy wine tastings, guided winery tours, or visit Starlight Distillery, where the Huber family produces bourbon, whiskey, brandy, and other spirits.
The winery also hosts live music and seasonal events, making it a wonderful destination for couples, families, and groups.
Joe Huber's Family Farm & Restaurant
For a traditional Southern Indiana country experience, visit Joe Huber's Family Farm & Restaurant.
The farm was purchased by Joseph Huber Sr. and his wife Mary in 1926, and the family's restaurant opened in 1983.
Today, guests can enjoy country-style meals inspired by generations of Huber family cooking.
Favorites include country fried chicken, honey ham, chicken and dumplings, mashed potatoes and gravy, fried biscuits with apple butter, and homemade pies and cobblers.
After lunch, explore the farm market, visit the barnyard animals, let the children enjoy the giant tunnel slide and playground, or take part in seasonal pumpkin picking and farm activities.
It's a wonderful way to experience the agricultural heritage and family traditions that make Southern Indiana special.
