I brought my husband to Cannúa Lodge Hotel to celebrate his birthday. Everyone on staff was very friendly and went out of their way to help us feel welcomed and well taken care of. The sunset hike was a little higher level than I anticipated, and I'm glad I went. I appreciate how our guide went out of her way to help me along the steeper parts of the path to ensure I felt safe. We learned a lot from the permaculture tour and highly recommend it. You will not only learn about permaculture but also about how Cannùa Lodge got started and the vision and mission behind it. We really enjoyed our stay.

Excellent séjour

Séjour très agréable. L'emplacement avec une vue à 180° est exceptionnel. La cuisine est d'un très haut niveau : beaucoup de finesse dans les plats et utilisation des produits de leur jardin.

The staff is amazing! The food is incredible. The accommodations are spectacular. This is a must stay. Be sure to take the permaculture tour as well. Honestly the food is better then the best restaurants in Medellin.

My wife and I travel a lot. First and foremost, all the reviews are correct in that the staff is wonderful, truly wonderful. HOWEVER, we were debating between 2 or 3 stars for several reasons. Our shower had low pressure and barely ever got even warm. In a cool place like this, a nice, hot shower would’ve been perfect. Furthermore, there is no tub in the bungalows to be able to take a nice, hot bath and in fact, the entire property does not have ANY tubs or group hot tubs. No pool (that was a given) and no way to get any hot water. Lastly but very importantly, it takes 30 minutes from a regular road each way to get up to and back down from the hotel. In a week, you’ll spend an equivalent of an 8 hour day just going up the long, unpaved, little path to the hotel.

From the first day, our experience was disappointing. We asked to join a guided hike but were told there wasn't one because the receptionist was also serving as the guide that day. Later, around 4:00 p.m., we went to the central area and discovered that a hike was actually scheduled to leave at 4:30 p.m. However, it didn't depart until 5:30 p.m., which meant we had to rush up steep, challenging terrain to make it back before dark. It felt unsafe and poorly organized. On both nights, mosquitoes were buzzing around our room, making it difficult to sleep. The hotel did not provide any mosquito spray, repellent, or even an environmentally friendly solution to address the problem. The restaurant service was good, and we enjoyed the food. However, there is very little to do at the hotel itself. To participate in most activities, you have to drive several kilometers along a very rough road just to reach the highway. Overall, while the food and restaurant staff were a positive aspect of our stay, the poor organization, lack of basic amenities, and limited on-site activities made for a disappointing experience. We would not recommend this hotel.

Dangerous Experience ... Spiders & Bugs

We booked a superior bungalow. These rooms are not properly sealed. Our room was crawling with live spiders & bugs and had over a dozen large dead spiders (which means that the room wasn't properly cleaned prior to check-in). We complained to the front desk and were given some oils and a can of bug spray. At night we were woken up by a large moth on our bed. The next day we immediately shifted hotels but were refused a refund on the remaining 3 unused days. Terrible place and terrible attitude of staff. This is literally my 1st complaint ever about a hotel and I have travelled to over 50 countries and had never had such a terrible experience. Note: Colombia has several species of venomous spiders & we were in an area with a high concentration of vegetation.

We honestly did not expect Cannua to be as amazing as it was! We expected a nice property with decent food and facilities, but what we got was above and beyond! 1st class customer service, all staff are absolute pleasure to deal with, property is stunning and aesthetically and architecturally fascinating. The story behind the place is inspiring - be sure to take the permaculture tour! Owners are great people. Food is on another level. We count ourselves lucky that we discovered the place early and before it becomes too popular and always booked out, which we are sure it will! Our deep thanks to the owners for creating such a wonderful place.

My husband and I stayed for only one night due to time restrictions on our part, but will definitely be back for a longer stay. Even before getting to the lodge, the staff was already in contact with us offering directions, if we had any special request or need. Very courteous staff, from the front desk, to the server, to the chef (whom by the way, comes out to your table to make sure your plate is to your satisfaction). The property over all is in immaculate condition. The different activities offered are great and very enriching. A place we MUST go back to! Awesome job team! We which you continue success and see you soon!

Maravillosa estadía.

Maravillosa experiencia. El concepto de sostenibilidad del hotel hace apropiarnos del disfrute y cuidado. Instalaciones muy limpias y comodas alejadas de toda la vida citadina. Excelente vista del valle de San Nicolas. La atención estupenda, muy profesional y amable. Destaco la atención que tuvimos de parte de Fabian. Muy agradecidos con él y la enseñanza de las catas de chocolates y ron. Los demás integrantes del hotel muy atentos incluido el administrador. De la comida ni decir. Exquisita sin perder su caracter innovador y saludable hecha con productos cultivados de la región. La habitacion muy limpia y confortable. Espero poder volver para tener otra experiencia maravillosa. Muy recomendado

The Hotel is set right at the top of a hill in the middle of an amazing Antioquian landscape filled with Fincas and forests. The permaculture concept of the hotel was really impressive. The hotel was build out of compressed earth blocks and bamboo. The garden due to the permaculture concept can seem a bit wild but is ultimately beautiful and fits right in to the sourounding landscape. I was amazed by the numbers of birds you can observe all over the property. The food, especially the tasting menu was fantastic and reasonably priced. The bread served with the breakfast is probably the best I had so far in Colombia. We stayed in one of the cabañas which are spacious and sport a confy bed. The view from the cabañas is breathtaking, even more so if you are lucky enough to witness a thunderstorm over the valley. The service was excellent and especially Santiago the hotel manager was always around if needed and loved to tell tales of nature and sustainability. All in all an amazing experience.
