Absolutely perfect location, plenty of room for a group and everything we needed included - beds comfortable & plentiful. However, this is managed by a rental agency and it showed. The house was not clean or well kept. (Large old stains on carpets & comforters on beds not washed and visibly dirty, only some beds had fresh linens on them, only one roll of toilet paper stocked house wide, main couch broken, visible dirt and cob webs on floors and surfaces, broken frame left by the sink etc...) I'd also caution that there were no pillow or mattress protectors and the pillows and mattresses were heavily used.

The property as far as the description of size, number of bedrooms, amenities and location was very accurate. There were seven of us and we had plenty of room and it was clean. The upkeep of the property itself is a different story. We arrived on a Thursday, the garbage from the previous renters was still in the small garage. Bags were ripped open, it smelled, it was terrible. I notified the owners when we checked in, sent pictures of the situation. That garbage sat there our whole stay! No one came to pick it up, our garbage now is piling on top of that. We couldn't even get to the kayaks because that's where they're stored. The outside of the home...patio downstairs, windows, upper deck didn't look like they've even been swept in months; the firepit was filled with ashes, making a fire difficult. This was mid-July, right in the middle of the season, I feel the outside of the home should be clean as well. We had to spend a lot of time on the deck, because we had a bit of rain every day. To which, we had to stay an extra day, the bridge out was flooded over. For that the owners were very nice. I don't know how often they go out and inspect the property but we think it should be more often.

The property sits on a beautiful piece of land that leads to the lake. However the outside of the property and the hot tub needs some TLC. It was obvious that the deck had not been swept or power washed in a while. The stairs on the inside of the house leading to the upper bedrooms and the bedrooms were very steep and not kid or elderly friendly.

RENTERS BEWARE! Our stay at this cabin was extremely disappointing. It was overall poorly maintained - spider webs inside the cabin worn out furniture but the property was UNSAFE, UNSANITARY , and nothing like what was advertised. Water was seeping from beneath the basement floors-where the bedrooms are—making it wet, slippery, and unusable. With kids in our group, it was a serious safety concern. One family member even slipped on algae-covered stairs outside and hurt his back.The bathrooms were in terrible shape. One toilet was broken, the sink was clogged, and the shower curtain was a flimsy, dirty disposable liner. We ended up cleaning just to make it somewhat usable. We contacted the owners multiple times, but they were vague, and showed no real concern to most of the issues as if they knew about it they sent the maintenance guy who unclogged the sink the next day and added anti-slip tape to the stairs the next day, but the water issue in the basement was never fixed till we left. There was no apology and no ownership of the problems. On top of everything, the AC stopped working on our second night, making things worse. It felt like a horror movie—issue after issue, with little to no support or accountability.We never heard back from the owners after our stay, despite the serious concerns we raised. This cabin should not be listed in this condition. It’s a health and safety hazard, and we believe a full refund is warranted. Future renters deserve to know the truth.

Very nice

We had a wonderful family vacation here , the cabin was clean and well stocked. Very nice decor, nicely remodeled. House was a little warm du100 degree days but fans helped circulate the AC. Tubing and fishing was so much fun. The property and landscape is beautiful.

Very remote property surrounded by beautiful mountains on the Shenandoah River. Well maintained yard with plenty of firewood for the fire ring. The tubes were abundant for floating the River. The house size was perfect for our family of 7 adults and 2 preschoolers. The bedrooms were clean and bedding was fresh, however, the main living area off the kitchen could use some freshening up.The main lighting was a super bright chandelier with bright white bulbs. None of the smaller lamps had knobs, so we had to unplug them to turn off. The partial sectional was stained and broken in parts. The house smelled of fireplace soot that was not cleaned out of the fireplace. A can filled with ashes sat on the hearth, which my preschool grandson got into. The kitchen was well stocked but not very organized. The worst part was the ant infestation on the kitchen countertop. There were traps everywhere in the kitchen that didn’t help, which caused a lot of anxiety while trying to prepare a meal. The back deck was very large and overlooked the beautiful yard but was lacking comfortable outdoor furniture. There were cobwebs all over too. It definitely needed a good power washing. The hosts were quick to respond with a small issue we had which was nice. Chick in and out was easy.

Not Cleaned/Maintained

This house could be very nice had it been cleaned and maintained. During our stay we spent a lot of time washing sheets and towels. Some beds had just mattress pads on them, some had a flat sheet and the ones that looked to be made up had dirty sheets on them. Towels had not been washed, there were some clean towels in the laundry room laid over the laundry tub, but had dirty ones on top of them. The washer was packed with towels and there was an error code on the washer because it was overloaded.In the bathroom on the main floor the toilet seat was broken, the handle for the tub/shower was loose and could not be turned on and the drain was missing. The bathroom next to that one, the drain needed to be adjusted for the tub to hold water. There were a lot of ants in the kitchen, the stove top was not clean, the windows had a lot of cob webs in them, and the curtains were dirty. The floors were dirty, and there were piles of dust under the beds. The fireplace still had ashes and burnt wood in it, and the ash bucket was full. This house was not worth the money we paid to stay there, and we are very disappointed with all that needed to be done to make our stay work.

Beautiful waterfront cabin

We stayed with 9 friends for a long weekend of board games and hiking. The cabin was beautiful with a table plenty big enough for everyone to eat at or play games. The property is gorgeous and it's close enough to Shenandoah to go hike in the park. A great place to stay!

Perfect location and furnished home to celebrate my moms 70th!

We had a perfect weekend getaway on the river to celebrate and be together with enough space to spread out when needed. The house was fully stocked, the yard had plenty of space and a great fire pit. Not to mention how amazing the river fishing, tubing and relaxing was just a short walk away!

Cozy Cabin in a beautiful location!

Can’t beat the location on the river, we loved tubing and the volleyball net! The cabin was clean and cozy and the owners were very quick to respond, we would highly recommend this place!

Not maintained

The house was not maintained. Water smelled awful, we were afraid to drink or use the water. It was also very buggy(stink bugs and lady bugs) inside the house in winter! Dead bugs on floors and furniture.The ash bucket for the fireplace was full to the brim.Laundry room had lots of stuff on appliances and the floor. All the closet had stuff in them. Vacuum and a broom were stored in the hallway. Kitchen pots, pans dishes and silverware looked dirty. There was trash in the yard, a large bucket full of cigarette butts on the back porch. Overall it felt as the house has not been maintained it a long time.

Lazy Bear Lodge Family Vacay

This is the 2nd year we have stayed here as a family. My husband and I take our 5 children with their spouses and children. We LOVE being all together. The outdoor space is very large and flat and great! You have access to the river for tubing, kayaking, fishing, and catching crayfish. We love the large firepit area and firewood is provided. We use the grill and large deck for meals. It's nice having the under the deck area in case it rains...you have an outdoor hangout space. The internet is very good but cell phone service not. We appreciate the Smart TV's and streaming services. The house has everything you need for cooking and linens. We really enjoy it:)

Extended family get-away

This is my SECOND time coming to this property. The first time I came was 2 years prior for a work retreat. This time it was for a family get together of ~8-10 family members and my two huskies. I obviously really loved this place being my second time there. The location is definitely a mountain get-away. The lodging is nicely kept with all the appropriate supplies you would need. The only thing I would pass on regarding this location was that the river that is actually during this time was VERY low. We did take the kayaks and tubes out (There are 2 kayaks and several tubes available). It was impossible to get through the river route on tube or kayak without having to get out and push/carry them over rock. Also there was a ton of algae. It made it more difficult to do this activity of course, but was still fun to do overall.

SECOND STAY WORTHY

this property was gorgeous! We went in the hot tub, went tubing in the river, fished, ate smore at the bonfire, had a provate chef cook for us, stayed up playing games on the long family table and enjoyed relaxing and watching shows through the hulu service they provided. We felt like kings and queens this past weekend! We will definitely be back!
