My room was absolutely filthy. The tub was visibly filthy. But the carpet - omFg. I couldn't figure how my socks got so dirty. After I got dressed in the morning, before I put my socks on, I took a towel and set it on the floor at the foot of the bed, stood on it, then rubbed my feet back and forth. The carpet side of the towel was black with filth. The room smelled musty/dirty, while it looked fine. But it was because the carpet hadn't been cleaned once since it was installed. It was the single-most disgusting experience I've ever had in a hotel. And to pay that much for a room and have the floor be truck-stop-bathroom-floor dirty was absolutely disgusting. I will never stay there again. I'll sleep in my car before I pay $1 to stay at the Muskegon Hampton Inn. I'm nauseous just thinking about it again. I spoke to someone at the front desk. She said she was going to talk to the manager. She verified my phone number and email. And I never heard another thing. I stayed there in June and did not leave an immediate review so that it wasn't a rash, whiplash, angry review. It's October. And I'd bet that room is just as bad now as it was then. And to this day, I never heard from anyone. I wasn't looking for a freebee. I wanted to know it would be addressed so I could know whether I'd ever want to stay there again. And now I know I don't. Stay away. Or if you do stay, try the towel thing and see if your white towel doesn't come up looking like you cleaned under your car bumper.
