Youâre paying for location with this one. Itâs just blocks away from downtown and from most of the tube companies. Parts of the house were cute, and it was a pretty comfortable stay. What wasnât great were the upwards of five roaches, both dead and alive, that we shared the home with. As well as the spiders.
Additionally, the house is just straight up old and probably in need of a lot of repairs and refurbishments. One side of the house seems to fully slant downwards to the right (you can really tell in the hall that leads from the kitchen and the back bedroom). In that same back right bedroom, the wall is completely pulling away from the baseboard. Itâs very hard to wash your face in the bathroom because the mirror has a large shelf that juts out so far you smack your head into it when you lean over. So your options are just drenching yourself and the floor in water. The layout of the home is bizarre, and as a previous review mentions, the headboard in one of the bedrooms is up against a door the leads into another bedroom and you can hear everything everyone is saying.
And while we had no issues with any of the house rules, they were so aggressively repeated on every single piece of paperwork we received or signed and then also listed on the fridge, that we 100% thought we would be charged a fine for simply existing and it became a bit of a running joke. I know this is definitely because of people who come to New Braunfels to party hard in the river, there arenât rules like this without people who have broken them to begin with. It was just A LOT for six 30-somethings who just wanted to sleep and shower and not get charged $50 for forgetting to put the trash can on the street.
Anyway. It was a fine place to sleep at night.
