The condo itself was lovely, except for the faulty fire alarms that blared our last night there (triggered by a shower). Management acknowledged the sensitivity of the alarms and advised they have been "working on" finding more effective alternatives. Meanwhile, having no one to contact, we had no choice but to disarm the alarms at 12:30 AM.Communication with the host was tedious. Requests from the management company came multiple times or not at all. Check in was a nightmare. There was significant confusion between The Eleanor and VRBO. The host even mentioned that dealing with VRBO is difficult for them, because "they want all the money." It seemed apparent that the host may not deal with VRBO often. Prior to arrival, the host made a 1500 draft on my credit card. This payment was not authorized and not outlined in the rental agreement in any way. Despite hours of my time spent with VBRO support and the host, the mistake was never fully corrected. We were offered early check-in, only to walk in on the cleaning crew. Multiple requests for financial compensation have been refused. Again, the unit is lovely. However, do not expect ANYTHING extra (coffee, etc.), and do not expect any concessions for inconvenience or mistakes on the part of the host. In fact, do not even expect basic Southern Hospitality.
