  • Pelican patiently waits for some fish scraps from the user of a man cleaning his fish. There are 2 piers in Panama and both cost $3 to walk them. The one closest to Pier Park is further out into the Gulf so it's more worth it if you can only do 1 pier. They do stamp your hand so you can go on and off it all day. On the pier a lot of people fish so watch for them hooks. From what I was told to fish in Florida you need a salt water and a fresh water licence in order to fish in the different waters. There are also signs posted on the pier about how to handle a situation if sea turtles get caught.

Within walking distance to the beach

Not a bad condo. Just a short walk to the beach. Love the pool access. The condo itself needs a little updating. We arrived to find half a roll of toilet paper in the entire condo. Messaged the owner and it took 24 hours to get more toilet paper. No dish towels or potholders were present. Several of the lights and fans did not work. The TV has no cable or apps to log into for service. The filter for the AC unit was completely filthy. But, even with all of this, I would recommend. It’s a spacious condo near the beach and other amenities. Within walking distance to a few restaurants. Beautiful complex.

Good location

Good location! but the reviews are correct this place was very dirty. You pay a cleaning fee for what I had to go back in and clean the property before we could stay. Stove was dirty, microwave was dirty, fridge was dirty and the floors. When I say they leave you nothing they leave half a rolls of toilet paper you better bring everything you need. No dish soap toilet paper trash bags nothing!!!!! The only thing this place had going was its location!!!!!!!!!!

It's OK!

Wasn't overly impressed by cleanliness. Floors are warped in master & secondary bathrooms near the tub. Shower head in master looked black in spots (maybe mildew or mold) so we didn't use it. Limited wash cloths so bring your own; stairs are steep. Master can get hot at night so we had to adjust temperature. My husband swears he heard footsteps inside late one night. Other than that, it was just OK but not a place I would book for a 2nd trip. Great location to activities and the beach though.

Nice place to stay

Everything was nice with the exception of the shower not working. Emailed and called the contact we were given for this property and didn’t receive a return call or email. It just wasn’t idea to sit in the tub every day but we didn’t let that simple thing distract our trip. Other than that we enjoyed being so close to the pool and beach.

Gulf Highlands Is Worth The Stay

We like Gulf Highlands so much that this is our second year of staying there. And we are already looking to book another week next year. We think that it is a great location, centrally located between Gulf World and St. Andrews Park. So yes we highly recommend Gulf Highlands. Now about this unit… This unit is nicer than the one we stayed in last year. Last year’s unit was nice but the master bathroom was so small that we literally didn’t use it. This unit basically had 2 master bedrooms upstairs each with their own private bathroom. And both bathrooms were big enough. This unit includes some beach chairs and floaties for use. But no beach wagon to haul everything to the beach. However this unit is about as close to the beach as you can get in Gulf Highlands. The walk to the beach is literally less than 5 minutes including pulling our beach wagon and waiting for the crosswalk to stop traffic. Now the unit is not perfect but nothing to prevent you from staying there. But just to let you know what to expect… Be sure to bring your own trash bags as there were none there other than Walmart bags to use as trash bags. And there was only 1 small teeny tiny trash can in all of upstairs located in the master bathroom. And there were some items that we only assume were left by previous travelers opposed to the owners such as sandwich baggies, hand soap, toilet paper and those Walmart bags. It doesn’t appear that you can count on the owner leaving the place stocked and ready for you when you arrive. So bring your own necessities or run to Walmart to stock up. And if you want hot water upstairs then you need to turn the facet on and wait about 3-5 minutes or so. And I realize that there is no place like home but man it would be nice for some of these places to start installing a bidet toilet seat. (If you have never tried one, don’t knock it until you try it!) And we have yet to find any place that has a memory foam bed. But the bed in the master bedroom was about as bad as it gets. The last 2 mornings I couldn’t hardly walk after sleeping in that bed. I might have to take an air mattress with me from now on. And we have yet to find a place in Florida that has blackout curtains. I guess all Floridians like to wake up at the crack of dawn. So we take a big black blanket with us that we can hang over the window to block the sunlight. So anyway, all those “issues” can be remedied by the traveler and should not stop one from staying.

This property was very well maintained and had plenty of space and great location. My contact person was very helpful and easy to touch base with. Loved the close by pool and short walk to the beach. Only problem was TV in master bedroom was not connected to cable but was able to watch Roku on it.
